Should Britney Experiment With Indie/alternative Sounds?

Recommended Posts

I know it may be not for album 9 since - probably - they're going urban with it but wouldn't it be cool if she came out with an indie/alternative record in the future?

Britney may not have a big powerhouse voice like Beyonce or Christina but I think it is very versatile and actually really powerful in its own way. I feel like her voice has a lot of potential for almost all genres because of the beautiful, unique tone that she has...

I would love her to particularly experiment with Indie/Alternative sounds because from songs like 'And Then We Kiss' and 'Unusual You' and maybe 'He About to Lose Me', and demos like 'Red is the Color', I can actually imagine her coming out with very cool, vibe-y alternative songs.

Maybe something like this:

What do you guys think? Or maybe it's just me who thinks this would be cool LOL

Also, I feel like Britney is only one of the few pop artists I listen to and it would be SUPER AWESOME if she did something I usually listen to lol

But I still have faith that this could happen because Britney is a person who loves making music and she loves to experiment with her sounds... SO - FINGERS CROSSED! lol

I would definitely like something more alternative :mhm:

Actually, I'm really expecting her song Tom's Diner with Moroder to have that kind of vibe. I don't want it to end up being too EDM, or too disco. But since it's Giorgio Moroder, I think it will definitely have that dance beat too. But since it's Tom's Diner I still have a little hope that he left the song more reminiscent to the acoustic version.

But I think I would prefer even more, something artsy-fartsy hahaha like, with more violin, piano, strings, bells, claps, and strange sounds. Like indie, but artistic and very beautiful music, if that makes any sense :thatsfunny:

Yeah I'm looking forward to Tom's Diner. And I agree that it's probably something dancey since it's Giorgio Moroder lol. I too hope it's more of an artistic approach to the song with the elements of the original still remain lol.

Yeah artsy-fartsy approach with strange/cool/hypnotic sounds. Totally alternative! Omgosh I'd be totally slayed if she came out with something like that.  :crying1:

I would like that too! I mean, I want Britney to keep releasing pop mainstream songs, because that's what she is, a pop artists, but it would be nice to see her experimenting every once in a while! And like Pokémon Spears said above, I want to hear more songs with a "band" sound, with real instruments recorded on the studio that could even include a full orchestra! Marina And The Diamonds did that with her latest album and the songs sound really raw and real, something that would be amazing to hear comming from Britney. So yeah, I'm so here for that! Get that artsy fartsy album Brit!  ;)

I know this is not the point of the thread but someone can tell ne good inidie/alternate bands? or singers? :moorangu:

Many years ago, there was a singer called Christina Aguilera, ok jk :thatsfunny:

I don't know, isn't Lorde some kind of indie? Even Marina and the Diamonds or Foster the People, well, they're getting more popular now, but, I don't know, I just know that it's the kind of music they would always play at the malls :P  Right now the only one I can remember is this

At least this is what I call indie music britney_spears_oh_oh_by_pokemonspears-d8

I don't know much about alternative music but Foxes could be what you're looking for? She collaborated with Zedd but her solo stuff is pretty different! Her music videos are great aswell :)

It seems to me that is the vibe Britney was going for with a large chunk of BJ but everybody was spooked and they tried to add stuff to the songs and it left the songs with a remix or unfinished demo feel.

As for kind of indy type aftist I love Laura Marling.

This upcoming era Brit seems to be headed for a retro vibe.

You know what? I've actually always thought that! If the production team was better Britney Jean would have been a great and original album. It surprises me to see someone who agrees with me :)

I agree with every word you said in the op!

I mean Britney is the only pop artist that I love, apart from her I usually listen to artists or bands like Cat Power, Florence and the Machine, London Grammar, Alt J etc..Her voice is just so unique that it can fit many genres of music.

I would love her to make some alternative music.

Before this thread I thought I was the only one that thought about this..lol

Yeah, they've become more pop. Also, what I was thinking is no matter which sound Britney comes up with, she'll always be considered pop. It doesn't matter if it's BOMT or Work Bitch or Gimme More, it will always be bubblegum pop for the GP just because it's Britney :P So even if she goes with a more alternative vibe, it would be the same.

I think that's because pop means popular, and everybody knows who is Britney, so you know, she is POPular :orangu:

lol So glad that there are people who feel the same way!

Sometimes when I listen to indie/alternative music, I always think that Britney would be great in these kinda sounds.
