Dragneel Posted May 31, 2015 #1 Report Posted May 31, 2015 It's been 11 years since Britney last performed overprotected... I thought she never wanted to perform this song again because of what she's been through and the fact that in her 30's she was still overprotected and couldn't make her own choices. However, it seems that nowadays she is more in control than she has ever been and 11 years later it won't be awkward to perform overprotected again. It is seriously one of Britney's classics and fan favorites and it tends to become one of the most underrated songs in her career. Even boys is more recognizable than overprotected and it's because Britney forgot that she had this hit in her discography for 11 freaking years. Should Britney at last revive this long forgotten gem from her discography? Do you think it will still be awkward and ironic to perform this song in public since she has been overprotected since forever? Is she still overprotected or does she make her own choices? How do you imagine a comeback performance for overprotected? What I would like: The performance could have some awesome choreography like break the ice because overprotected sounds really cool and faded and needs something similar. It doesn't have to be a very difficult choreography. It could be like the original. She should wear pants or something more dramatic like the coat she was wearing in DWAD during the oops performance. It depends on the remix actually... They could make a cool remix like the following one with electric guitar. The fans would go crazy. 1
Bethy Boo Posted May 31, 2015 #2 Report Posted May 31, 2015 Actually had a dream last night that after TTWE, she did Overprotected as the encore (I was heavily medicated it should be noted). No dancers, crazy lighting, confetti, anything like that, just her with a couple of backing singers by the steps, in jeans and a top and a hand held mic, walking around the stage, interacting with the audience with a super bitchy attitude. If she did choreo with it I'd always be comparing it to her hammering it in the original MV, like I do whenever I see her do Toxic when it's not THE toxic choreo. But I agree, Overprotected should definitely be in there. 2
heather Posted May 31, 2015 #3 Report Posted May 31, 2015 I would love to see overprotected added to the set list next year, but I don't think it'll ever happen. I could see the media, and even fans, having a field day with it. Saying Britney's giving us a hidden message

BritneyJean18 Posted May 31, 2015 #5 Report Posted May 31, 2015 I always loved Overprotected and always will. PRAYS she adds it to POM
Ally_cat Posted May 31, 2015 #6 Report Posted May 31, 2015 Overprotected is tragic in hindsight, just like lucky
BlackoutEgo Posted May 31, 2015 #7 Report Posted May 31, 2015 I still kinda feel like she still is over protected , She still has her bodyguards with her everywhere she goes and there's only like 2 papz idgi It would be cool if she performed it tho , its been a loooooooong ass time

She's a HUGE star it would be incredibly easy for any crazy stalker to learn her schedule and harm her/her family
Britnoy Posted May 31, 2015 #9 Report Posted May 31, 2015 The only reason why she doesn't perform it is because the lyrics are now more than ever related to her, which is sad...

PopMusicJunkie Posted May 31, 2015 #12 Report Posted May 31, 2015 "Overprotected" has always been one of her better written songs and is pretty much her eternal flame. I would love for Britney to add the song into the show and then sing a reprise. 1

PopMusicJunkie Posted May 31, 2015 #15 Report Posted May 31, 2015 I can see that in your signature... Also how many of her singles have 2 separate, official music videos?? I believe "Overprotected" is her only single to receive this treatment. I love the international version too, the beginning is shades of Janet's "Pleasure Principle" with her dancing her frustrations away all alone before her dancers join her.

Why the hell I didn't know that? I've just watched the music video. She has been inspired by Janet sooo much!! This collaboration needs to happen asap...

But I would love a collab between them for sure.
Guest QueenJocasta Posted June 1, 2015 #18 Report Posted June 1, 2015 It would still slay so hard if released today
