I know i don't alot (school and work) but seeing all of this Iggy bashing Britney bullshit makes me want to try to bring people to the clearer picture.

 

It's no ones fault that the song flopped. The issue is the song was generic and basic. Look at Tom's Diner. No promo and it's Giorgio Moroder's most downloaded song off his album with NO PROMO FROM BRITNEY! and Mostly interviews on Giorgio Moroder's part since its his album.

 

See? Britney has outgrown the bloodyshy, Dr.Luke, same ole boring ass pop. People don't find it appealing that Britney is still making music as if she is still 16 years old. Bark Baker, who does MV parodies and did a parody of PG, eludes to that in his parody of Britney is too damn old to be singing about the being a cocky pretty girl who gets all the guys. She is a mother of two, her image is no longer Sexy Britney. It's normal, soccor mom Britney and the song choices she is making and her real image don't go together and the GP knows it. Thats why they jumped on Tom's Diner a little more because it was a mature sound for Britney. 

 

So in the end, No amount of promo was going to save that song. The GP wasn't buying it and even though Britney did show the world she was still around, they expected something different from her, and Pretty Girls to them was not different.

And yes im giving the ole "but she's a mom now" thing because that's what the GP sees. A mother with two almost middle school age children singing like she is still 16. Britney can be sexy and be mother, Madonna's doing it, but Madonna's music (at times) has a mature sound. (Ray Of Light anyone?) the issue is the GP now knows her as a mom. That's her new image and trying to pretend otherwise, especially in her music, it's going to work or secure her any hits!

And that's my issue with Iggy's statements. She's putting the failure of pretty girls on the fact that Britney/her team wouldn't allow her to promote the song the way she wanted to, when actually there are a list full of reasons why.

everyone including Britney needs to see this as an example of she is too old to be doing cocky, girly anthem style club music considering she doesn't even go to clubs or party hard anymore. The GP knows it a facade, a tired old one that needs to be retired

yes, we all know this. But as fans we should also accept that the GP has adopted the Mom image with Britney now. She needs updated and more mature material. The club anthems aren't gonna do it anymore.

I agree. As much as I love the woman, I want something more mature and deep from her. I know she has tried going that route before with her music and was shut down...but I think now she might have more control. I would love nothing more than a Jagged Little Pill type of album from Britney...but maybe less angry. The whole party girl image/sound should have stopped awhile ago.

I think Britney knows this and it was just a song to put out for fun, I don't think she expected anything of it and I guess Iggy is pissed cuz she wrote it so she won't be getting a lot of residuals from the sales. Maybe it's an experiment to test the waters for the new album or maybe it's way of proof to her team that this kind of music doesn't work.

Have to agree. Britney just wanted a fun song to release, thats all. I think Iggy is more concerned about her career than Britney is, which is understandable, but Iggy's image needs fixing and some of her past comments and behavior are not being forgotten easily.

I like PG but you're right, I think people for the most part are over that kind of music from her. I think she needs to go in a more mature direction musically, and for the most part, Britney Jean was a step in the right direction.

but every thing the media writes is about Britney's personal life, which includes her trips with her children. Her twitter and instagram are the same also. She has the "mega popstar who lives a normal life" image and right now, it's all the media and Britney project to the world

But her stuff is basic and generic right now except Tom's Diner. Yea, she needs to promote, but all the promo in the world couldn't have made that song a hit, unless it came out last summer.

If you're bringing up Madonna, don't forget to mention how "Bitch I'm Madonna" was received when the MV came out and it became quite well-known thanks to the celebrities. It was a disaster and PG wasn't even hated to that extent. It's a good indication of what can happen to Britney in the future if she keeps releasing such songs.

for one, the reviews weren't kind to this song. Not mad at iggy or brit, but im just saying nothing could have saved this song. No amount of promo could have made the gp like it.

Beyonce has a daughter and does alot of fun things with her and still makes music about "feeling herself" & how she is "flawless" & how she is "drunk in love" & singing about being drunk and not spilling her drink in "7/11"

Jlo has 2 kids just like Britney and does music about her "booty" & is doing videos with almost naked men singing about her "papi"
