Welcome.

I needed to create this thread to appreciate the flawless and controversial If U Seek Amy. ( :crying1: Sorry, even saying its name makes me emotional. Let's continue.)

PERFORMANCE

This [TCSBS performance] is, by far, my most favorite tour performance of hers. I need a moment. :crying4:

The fierceness, the cockiness, the sexyness. Her facial expressions. :crying5:

No matter how sloppy the other performances could be, this one was always fierce, funny, on point and sexy! The choreography may seem easy, but it's quite tricky tbh and I love it because she nailed it every single time. :mahhaw: You could tell she had a blast performing this one!

MUSIC VIDEO

It made me laugh my ass off when I saw the intro mocked that bitchy reporter :lmfaoo:

I love that they didn't want to hide the double entendre, they enhanced it, embraced it and displayed it in a "in your ugly face!" way.

The director payed a lot of attention to the song and made the video actually follow the essence of the song. She's at the center of both boys and girls, all of them dancing around her, lusting for her, wanting her attention.

Another thing I love about it, whether it's intentional or not, is how personal it ended up being. It displays how Britney's life has been divided into two completely different ones. She can do whatever she wants and be who she wants to be behind closed doors, but when she's  at the center of the media attention, she's this nice, sophisticated, well-behaved woman; the way everyone sees her nowadays.

SONG

Don't know if I'm the only one who perceives it as a personal one. The lines "Love me, hate me / Say what you want about me", is a reference to the public's perception and fascination with her life. It mocks onlookers' morbid fascination with the downward spiral of celebrities and herself. A lot of critics claimed it as the best track from the album. It's classic Britney at her best. (The controversy it caused tho :ummlol: )

You see, just change "Amy" with "Britney" and ta-dá, it's a song about people craving for Britney, wanting to know about her, know where she is, what she's doing.  (Us tbh :pieceofwhat: )

"Oh baby, baby. Have you seen Britney tonight? ... Tell me, have you seen her? Cause I'm so.. Oh! I can't get her off of my brain."

Love it. Hate it. Say what you want about it. (In the comments section below :P )

In the stems, you can hear one or two or more audio files says "EF you seek amy" instead of "IF you seek amy"
Well there are also audio files that says IF, but still.

Flawless song tbh

One of my favorite from Circus

Glad it's a single

That Kelly woman is a terrible journalist. She's obviously biased and isn't trying to hide that she has a hate on for Britney. No wonder Britney has such a bad reputation.

The media needs to quit running their mouths and trying to influence their opinions on the uneducated people of America who will sit down, watch and believe whatever they say, and stick to presenting the public with nothing but the facts.

Its been like 6 years since that interview but this is the first time I'm seeing it and I for one am outraged with her blatant one sided reporting.

I don't care how in your face the lyrics are, as a journalist she shouldn't force her opinion on the public like that.

Sorry if I sound ranty, I'm just worked up.  :dontlike:

Anyway, love love love this song & video. Glad they poked fun at that newscast in the beginning!  :)
