Britney had better music for my taste. And her tone was very distinct and attractive to me ears. She had/has an unbelievable presence-Just a unique "IT" quality.

I like Mandy Moore but she just has this small presence about her. The first time I even heard of her she was opening for the Backstreet boys. Her songs just weren't very good. I liked her song form Center stage better though but still a frail presence. I liked her as an actress better. Presence wise.

Jessica was always so try hard musically even though she had a nice voice and seemed nice. She just seemed like she was trying to be liked instead of making music and performing.

Christina just has this negative atmosphere around her. She's always just brought my mood down when ever watching her. I did like her music at first but her aura turned me against being a fan.

Yes!

i never paid any attention to mandy moore or jessica simpson, they just never reached the level britney and xtina did even back in 1998/99

honestly i started liking britney because that's who all my friends liked, i didn't really start to like xtina until her stripped era, and then i've always still liked xtina she just never quite hit the mark unlike britney who was on point

honestly tho THE SPICE GIRLS!!!!! were britney's biggest competition imo but they broke up and shrunk into irrelevancy by oidia

Ok well first of all I heard about Britney first....I really liked genie in a bottle but Brit always seemed more likable than Christina and at Dirrty she completely lost me. Mandy and Jessica were never that big in Europe....so they were not even competition for Brit here  :aintevenmad: but I liked Irresistible

I have a secret :flop: confession to make...I was team Christina from 1999 (the other singers weren't really all introduced until then) until 2001. In my defense, it was before that bitchy snobby attitude fully developed and she actually made good pop music. It wasn't a conscious effort to "switch", just found myself being way more into Britney and liking Christina less and less...but I still liked Mandy and Jessica a lot too. I liked them all. I admit.

But today I stand before Godney and am saved by the Holy Spearit :Godney:

Love Irresistable!! The video is so Britney-influenced, it's crazy.

I didn't even hear of Christina until after I was a Britney fan. Same for Jessica and Mandy. And I'm really not trying to be ugly when I say this, but you kind of knew that they (Jessica and Mandy) weren't really ever going to be in the same league, and heavy competition for Brit.
I always felt bad for Christina because it just so happened that she was always an inch behind Britney in everything, and it always looked like she was copying her and whatnot. But yeah, even when Christina sang the Mulan theme and they played it on the Disney channel for a hot minute, I didn't know who she was.

Well britney was the first one the scene and there was just something about her that made me different. In a good way of course. I've never liked an artist as much as I adore her. What I liked was also that she seemed very humble and had such a goofy personality.

Initially it was because I heard BOMT first and saw the music video first and I thought it was catchier than Genie in a Bottle. I was freakin obsessed with BOMT. I listened to it every day with my ears agaist the speaker trying to imitate her baby voice lol. I LOVED Britney's voice and thought Christinas was good but she just didn't have that special sound. Britney's was unique and Christina just sounded like any other singer with a big voice to me. Everything Britney did was superior in my opinion. That includes songs, music videos, style, personality, dancing, and performances. Britney's performances was like no other artist out there. Britney seemed more humble and relatable than Christina. On top of all of that Britney was the prettier, cuter, and sexier one :britney-agreedlol:

this  :crying1:

well everybody can answer but here is the question...

what made you choose being a Britney fan instead of a Xtina, Mandy Moore or Jessica Simpson?

Well Britney came out first lol, then all the other girls came after her and just seemed like a copy of the original.

Plus Britney just had something that stood out of what was happening in music back then, the best of times

She was just gorgeous! She was my first ever celebrity crush! I was straight until i was 18, so to me she was the perfect girl. She is from my home state, she had great songs, she was sweet, had a sense of humor, down to earth, wasn't letting the fame get to her head, liked sports, could dance better than most all chicks, etc! Reminded me of the southern girls back home. I remember watching the mtv music awards over and over when she did the oops i did it again routine, sometimes staying up until like midnight! I think you could also tell that she was just out to have fun, not to just get paid! Her songs were definitely catcher than the rest! She was and still is America's sweetheart, so i think that is what drew everyone in. Even when she turned sexier, everyone defended her..whereas when Christina did it, everyone called her trashy and ghetto...Her being a dork, and being able to make fun of herself was great.

To me it was because of her looks, her personality, her charisma, her voice and her dancing.

I did like Christina, but never as much as Britney. To me XTincta was just anoter carbon copy of Britney at the beginning.

I liked the other girls, but Britney was the main one. I liked her the most and thought she was the prettiest, followed by Mandy. Plus I was introduced to Britney first, so everyone else paled in comparison tbh.

They still do

I don't know, honestly.

I just really liked her music. It was catchy. I did think Genie in a Bottle was pretty good as a kid, but a lot of that CD had more of an R&B vibe to it, which I wasn't into. I also had a Mandy Moore CD, but those songs were a little *too* cheesy for me. There was just something about Britney's music that was really, really good. Christina's music had a different vibe, Mandy just didn't have good songs on that first CD, and I never did like Jessica's music. Britney also had the whole girl next door look. She looked friendly and nice, like she could easily be your big sister and not some famous pop star.

Those are the things I remember as a kid, when all the female pop singers came out, and what seemed to separate Britney from the rest of them. The music, the videos, and the girl next door personality.

I think is more difficult becoming a fan now than it was then because now there are so many (untalented) singers but I choosed Britney because she was really different but also really special and she was the only celebrity who touched my heart :kisskiss:

Don't hate me guys, but I was originally more of a Christina stan, although I liked Britney's music too.

It wasn't until Oops I Did It Again that I became the Britney stan that you see today. That song was everything to me & so was the album, lol.

And I wasn't that into Mandy Moore & Jessica Simpson because I found them boring, they were clearly copy cats.

I was very young so it's a little foggy, but there was something about the way she looked and performed that set her wayyyy apart. And as she got more famous she was everywhere with this very sweet and cute personality that reminded me of my cousins and babysitters lol. I would compare everyone to britney cuz no one really completely compared to her in my eyes. I was just drawn right away and she was the first celebrity i took a huge interest in other than for just there career and songs.

BOMT song and video slayed me so hard and I loved her voice, I thiught it was so r&b (I know that's dumb :o ) then I saw the EMA99 performance and I was hers forever. Xtina was seen as the new Britney and even a copycat so i wasn't here for her at all.

Pretty much this. Also the vma performance with nsync is a big memory for me. I was pretty much a stan before BOMT album was released. I remember i had a massive poster of BOMT cover - not the US cover but the Europe one.

She was just the best and everything was exciting and fresh, the perfect time as well as the spice girls just broke up, so we needed another pop force.

Xtina was good - she just was not Britney.. As for the others - they were just too basic, and their albums were just not good..
