You know, like, something universally acclaimed, hailed by critics, something very personal to her, she's fully involved it, etc? :sadney:

I know some of you may say ITZ, but I feel like the album was far from perfect, musically, although it was a step in the right direction. It's sad that she kind of regressed as an artist post breakdown, but those albums were made when Janet and Madge were a bit older so I hope Britney can still make something like that  :fabrit:

Why does she need a RoL or VR when she's got Blackout?

It's reached lofty critical acclaim from everything from NPR to Pitchfork and is routinely labelled the most influential album of the 2000s. Ray of Light & Velvet Rope, while highly acclaimed for Madonna & Janet, didn't forever change the landscape of music forever. I mean, why would she feel jealous when every pop star after her has attempted to recreate Blackout for the past 7 years now? #TheFame #Bangerz #StarsDance #Animal #BodyTalk #RatedR #ICouldGoOn

Britney is Britney, Madonna is Madonna. :reductive:

I would say Britney Jean is her own Ray Of Light. In The Zone is a very ambitious album with dance tracks and a few ballads, but not at all like a Ray Of Light album.

BRITNEY JEAN?

BRITNEY JEAN?

yeah, of course it is not a Ray of Light, but if she has one, it would defintiely be Britney Jean for me. I hate a few songs (Tik Tik Boom, Body Ache and Passenger), but other songs like Perfume and Work Bitch are amazing. Great vocals, great production, personal and meaningful lyrics. Chillin With You is one of her most inspiring songs ever, I love it!

So. Much. Word.   :crying1:

I don't get the obsession with Britney needing her own Velvet Rope or Ray of Light or whatever or acting like her legacy is slowly fading away.  This woman is known as the definitive Princess of Pop and continues to influence musically like her idols.

Gurl Blackout is defined by rolling stone as "THE pop album" most modern 2009 and on pop music was influenciated by it   and britney was the exec producer in it so  :toxicwink:

And ITZ was a very personal project to her, more than BJ if u ask me  :lmaolol:  she made a huge promotion precisely becaouse it was

HER work, true some songs were there becaouse of her discography, but most of the album is hers  :yesplz:

Britney has her Blackout though... when will Janet and Madge tbh?  ;)

Anyway, Brit's still got some years to go before shes out of the business for good, I feel like she still has a few strong albums left in her.

We also have to remember, when Janet and M made these "personal" albums, they weren't under a conservatorship... Now, I ain't hating, but I'm pretty sure that her freedom of speech and stuff is also a little limited at the moment. Jamie & co. probably wouldn't go for an album inspired by depression and image reinvention ah-la TVR and ROL.
