William Orbit bares it all in a new interview!! He opened about lots of his projects including his own album, working with Madonna & of course working with Britney on "Alien"

Here's the "Alien" part:

Interviewer: ALIEN, THE TRACK YOU PRODUCED FOR BRITNEY, OPENS HER LATEST ALBUM AND IT SETS A WONDERFUL VIBE. DON’T YOU THINK THAT THE REST OF IT IS A BIT OF A LET DOWN?

Orbit: For some reasons, nobody can really understand these things; she just has that special ‘thing’. If you listen to the remix of Alien I recently uploaded, it’s more indie pop and I did it for fun but hey, listen to that voice! It’s special. I wish I had the chance to do what I can do for her, she deserves to be given a chance. My specialty with artists is to make it seem like we’re not working. I try to let me understand that if I’m smiling, it means I’m happy with what we’ve just recorded; it means they touched my soul. When artists unconsciously bring this out, I’m the happiest man in the world. I’m slow to make a record, you probably wouldn’t hire me if you had to have something done by tomorrow but when it comes to be in the studio and recording vocals, everything runs quickly and  it’s  fun. I know what I  want technically and what I can work on later, so there is no point for the artist to do it over and over. I’m not talking about auto-tune but rather about spontaneity; that something great and special.

Team Britney is that you tbh?!!!

"I’m slow to make a record, you probably wouldn’t hire me if you had to have something done by tomorrow"

And that's probably why they will never do a full record together. Team Britney loved to rush everything.

I understand his reaction and everything but by bringing it up again and again he probably won't get a chance to work with her again anyways. The same goes for danja.

I do think Will.I.Am and her team are to blame for changes in direction on BJ but idk about the rushed thing. It was a stupid idea to schedule an album at the same time preparing for a vegas residency yes..but after the start of the residency wouldn't have been better as well. And her priority #1 are her kids and I think that she only has a certain amount of time she wants to work anyways. I'd say Orbit would have to be really flexible to be EP on her next album. It's not like she wants or can do all-nighters to get a song right etc.

Im a little bit tired of every single week something about Orbit.

But let me tell you something, Alien is the best song in that album

And its refreshing that at least ONE person in the entire music business

cares about the third single. Also, the intervier tried to get him to say

something about the let downs in Britney Jean and he didn't so i respect that.

ooh stop.. Britney was never passionate about her music.. The most passionate was when she wanted me against the music as a single, thats the only time she really thought for it. Even Blackout was ordered from her label...

how do you know that was the most passionate she ever was? like how does a person even measure passion?

Amen. Passion is so personal and subjective. Orbit's pov is interesting tho.

Thats what I was thinking...personal and subjective

Unless there is a Passion-ometer that I dont know about that God uses and told other people the data from.

I kinda think that music is not an Olympic sport to be ranked and with so much emphasis on what is better than what....

I think the album was rushed because of POM. They needed something to keep the fans occupied while she's in Vegas for 2 years...

Sadly Britney Jean wasn't enough. We are always hungry for new music from the Queen... :crying5:

I'm sorry but if Alien is all he could come up with after all these years of wanting to work with her than, I must say I'm unimpressed. It isn't the best song on the album. Hold On Tight was created by a virtual unknown producer, and it is leaps and bounds better than Alien, lyrically and sonically. I find him very overrated and Alien while fine, it's a bit lazy for a man with a 'slow process', basic chorus, no bridge, cringeworthy "like an a-li-en" line. He worked on MDNA for over a year that to was nothing special.

Unfortunately it seems he is her new Dania, without the music to back it up,( meaning fans eat up whatever he says based on former glories rather than any thing else) when there are much better producers she has worked with that her fans could spend more energy in hyping. And he talks to damn much, I've heard more about Alien than other songs that actually become singles :orangu:

Overrated doesn't even begin to describe him.

Alien is a great song. It has a beautiful instrumental. It's simple and sublime imo. HOT's breathtaking though. Both songs are reflecting back but hey are almost opposites thematically imo. Alien is filled with hope because she now has a support system while HOT she's stripped down to just a lonely sad Britney. I love both.

Britney clearly now thinks that because shes a "professional" she can turn up to a studio, record for fourty minutes, lay down two tracks then leave. Thus her team force producers to auto-tune the shit out of the takes she records in order to make it work, resulting in the even mess with filled in Myah Marie vocals that is Britney Jean.

Let us not forget it took her weeks upon weeks holed up in a studio in Sweden to record Baby One More Time. The recording process is a lengthy one, no matter how talented, and the longer you spend in the studio, the better the end product will be.

Diplomatic producers who know how their bread is buttered would never outright say this, but nearly everyone whos worked with Britney in the past two years has said as much.

The only person Britney really can get away with this with is Max Martin, because he's worked with her since day one and accordingly will already be well versed with her style and vice versa.

I think I'm beginning to think that Britney needs an EP who believes in her. Let her take 2 years working on songs with One or 2 producers and see where this goes. Britney has a lot of fears and worries. She needs someone who can believe in her. That was supposed to be Will but his album flopped and he had to spend a lot of time doing stuff in Europe so the bulk of the work was left to someone like Anthony Preston.

I couldn't agree more (with your whole post really but this especially).

Britney Jean really leaves you wondering what could have been... instead of what we ultimately got.  Even though I can appreciate the more adult, personal themes on some of the songs,  I'm glad this album underperformed and hopefully sent a message to her team.  They can't just put anything with her name on it and expect it to sell. BJ was an album that wasn't ready to be released for mass consumption, the errors on the production side of things is quite laughable, and clearly her Vegas residency was the primary focus.   Allowing Britney to be more involved, plus working with someone that will foster her creativity, would undoubtedly produce better results.   I hope for album #9 we get this, I don't care how long it takes, and will.i.am shouldn't be associated in any shape or form. That experiment resulted in some very mixed to negative results so he can be shown the door permanently.  William Orbit can stay and I like how much he stans for "Alien" it is one of the superior songs  (IMO).

I always had so much respect for him, since the album Ray Of Light came out and I became a real fan of Madonna.

But after he started to work with Britney and I see how much love he put in that track I started to like him even more.

He's a stan for Alien and we know that Britney is too (so do I) and we can clearly see why... It's the best song on BJ!

Is personal, is mystical, is different of anything on pop world right now and fits so much with Britney.

I want them to work together again to album 9.

I have a lot of respect for William because he took his time to not only listen to Britney but her fanbase as well, the fact he took his time to listen to her musically hidden gems and admires Britney and puts her in the same league as MJ, Madonna, Bono and Freddy Mercury is so sweet ( and i agree)

He seems very genuine, which is why he comes off mouthy, he clearly speaks his mind but does so respectfully.

I do love BJ but mostly because of the down tempo songs - Alien, Hold on Tight (MASTERPIECE), Don't Cry, Brightest Morning Star, Chilling With You, Perfume (Dreaming MIx) and I like WB because it's just a great song - but given what William has said I'm disappointed that this may not have been the album Britney was spearheading initially, and was probably disuaded into more commerical sounding songs

Whatever happened, i still appreciate her hard work - but i do hope that the next album is completely her vision and it's not opaqued by greedy producers, technical flaws and another commitment

I'd like to see what an album composed of danja, wlliam orbit, max martin and the producer who did Hold On Tight would sound like all with Britney's lyrcis and vocals

because at the end of the day she should trust in her talent more, she's an amazing lyricist and her voice is just magic. Low or high register she kills it when she really wants to
