Christiane Schaumberg-Müller, the actress who hosted the Change Lingerie launch event for the new Intimate collection in Copenhagen, Denmark, recently visited a danish radio program where she talked about her experience meeting Britney and she had some pretty interesting things to say:

- Britney arrived a few minutes before she had to go on stage
- She stayed at the venue for 10 min
- She seemed scared and very uncomfortable
- Just right before she had to go on stage she looked very tensed up and down right freaked out
- But she was very sweet and not diva-like at all

Here's my ROUGH translation of the interview.

H = host, C = Christiane, S = Another guest in the show

H: You met Britney Spears recently

C: Yeah I did

H: How was it?

C: I had to interview Britney on stage and I think that she was at Forum (the venue) for a total of 10 minutes. She arrived in a car just before she had to get on stage for the interview and she didn't act diva-like at all, she seemed like a really really sweet girl, but she seemed so scared. My conclusion is that she had a lot of social anxiety

S: You know what, I'm so happy you said that, cause I saw some pictures of her from the event... She just walked around with this stiff smile and looked like she was doped out on meds, like, there has to be something wrong with her.

C: She looked so uncomfortable!

S: She seems totally bizarre, totally doped out.

C: Yeah. Just before she had to get on stage, her shoulders were right up at her head, she looked so tensed up. And she was scared.

H: And this is a woman who has been doing this for 16 years...

C: And that's why it didn't come off as diva-like or big headed, it really was social anxiety

H: Somebody should put their arms around her and take her home and watch some Netflix.

C: I think a lot of people are only seeing dollar signs.

S: Exactly. Like you can't trust anyone. I think she has a lot of paranoia. I think she experienced that people used her for her fame.

C: I really think she's been through a lot and you could definitely feel that.

S: It's nice to get an explanation, cause I really felt like she was totally doped out or she didn't give a f**k about that event.

Day after day I am more convinced that she wasn't ready for a come back, circus, femme fatale and all this. She should have take the time she needed to recover, to have a treatment and to be strong and ready to perform and to be around a big crowd. Thinking about it, it must be horrible to perform every night

I really can see this :( , she really shouldn't come back for a while, she needs a break, she needs to just pause this all, and go see a shrink and just get the right relaxation and treatment. And then when she knows shes ready and got her confidence back, she can comeback better than ever :tbh: . But ok, I guess she can't (or won't) do that, so best hopes she ll get better somehow :)

We all know Britney gets nervous at this kind of events, it's nothing new, but she gets on stage to perform every week and you can tell she loves it! I think that when she's on stage she feels like a different person so she has the confidence to perform, but at the intimate events she was just Britney, so I get why she was a little more nervous. Anyway, I think she's much better now and she's getting more confident. Also, it's completely normal to be a little anxious, we all are sometimes!

mte. The first thing everybody thinks is the medication, that's not fair.

Stuff like this makes me feel like they shouldn't have extended Vegas. I really do want her to go live on a ranch in Louisianan for a few years or just do whatever she wants. Meet a great guy, get married, have a baby. She can keep working on her lingerie line. There's no need to be in LA for that. She could spend time in London for that, since she seems to like the city a lot.

Then if she wants to come back and do a 10th album, it is done on her own time.

If only she had taken a long break after either Circus or FF. By long I mean 2-3+ years out of the spotlight.

I totally agree. But I feel that Britney's level of anxiety is not just one's run-of-the-mill cold feet and butterflies you get before an event. It is literally a serious case of anxiety. Of course that doesn't mean she should stop as she is obviously happy doing what she does. But I don't want to just normalize whatever....(how do I put this)....disorder(?) she may be dealing with.

Yeah yeah, I know it's a serious issue and it's not just getting a little nervous. But as I said before, I think she's getting more and more confident and I think she's slowly learnign how to deal with her problem. I just feel like people should stop being so harsh with Britney, I mean, she doesn't deserve the hate she gets for being "Awkward and shy", because it's not her fault. People should support her and cherish her accomplishments instead.

Absolutely. But with every pop star, perfection is expected. So you get interviews such as this where they go on and on about a woman we knew was shy from the get-go rather than discuss the lingerie and fashion show.

Of course, we see everything Britney does. Every showing of confidence and every time she seems shy, of which the former is outweighing the latter as you said. To other people, they a see a mere glimpse of this shy and awkward Britney and just get very curious and confused.

It really pissed me off how many times they said "doped up" in this interview. I feel like being on stage to perform and being on stage to present her lingerie are two completely different things and it's no surprise she was nervous as hell

You guys it is normal to stress. Even if she has anxiety, she shouldn't stop working and take a break!

I mean you get worse when you change your daily routine and go the easy way and just stop

doing anything productive.

It's part of her life and she should not let it control her. She is doing great!

Social anxiety is kind of permanent once it sets in. It doesn't mean she's not confident and she's gotten better with it. It's something you can grow into and battle through it but it's still a constant struggle. I think that's why we see her interviewed by the same people.

This :mhm:

Besides, Britney was tired cuz she had to travel to different countries in just a few days, being interviewed and making appaerances, that causes stress tbh

Social anxiety can really destroy your mind and it is misunderstood by many people. Actually all mental illnesses are misunderstood by people. Even if Britney has it (imo she has it), it's very wrong that everyone who met her talking about it like they know her. It's a sensitive and private issue. Anyway i think Britney is doing great.

I think performing is different for her though. When she performs, she puts on a different persona. She feeds off the energy from the fans.

At social events where she doesn't perform, that's when she gets super awkward and anxious.

When she does something she's very passionate about - for her it's performing - it's therapeutic.

And yes - The lingerie line is her passion too but it's just the idea/concept, the designs and pieces and not the promoting part of the business...
