This is without a doubt my favorite performance of all time. Everyone talks about Slave 4 U but this I think really solidified her. I don't know any female in the pop industry today who can dance the way she danced.

Not just the dance, she PERFORMED. She was the most magnetic thing in that stage. She was a popstar, but she acted like a rockstar that night.

I remember watching it on TV. I thought her black suit was falling off at first and was worried she would have a wardrobe malfunction. But then she ripped it off and it was amaaaazing! It may not seem like much now but at the time it was really shocking. The performance still gives me chills.

The Striptease >>> The Snake.  No contest and no other upcoming female singer could ever.   This performance is shades of Madonna & Janet but undeniably Britney and helped epitomized what the VMA's should be about.  It was shocking, tantalizing, and Britney performed this number like her life depended on it.  I'm so in love with her hair in this number, it just added to the sexiness and her hairography wasn't done obnoxiously (a la Beyoncé, love her, but it's overdone).  That final dance break still slays, and I consider that move her real trademark not the "Slave" devil horns.
