Now the streams are counted as part of the sales. :pieceofwhat:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/20/business/media/billboard-changing-the-charts-will-count-streaming-services-.html

SoundScan and Billboard will count 1,500 song streams from services like Spotify, Beats Music, Rdio, Rhapsody and Google Play as equivalent to an album sale. For the first time, they will also count “track equivalent albums†— a common industry yardstick of 10 downloads of individual tracks — as part of the formula for album rankings on the Billboard 200.

We need to support more britney official account on spotify :crying1:

too bad Trailor doesn't have any music to stream anymore :surprise:

is Ironic, that's  happening when taylor sack her entire discography of spotify :pieceofwhat:  and she criticizes industry of streams  .............. this will boost the sales of many divas as miley, ariana, katy, rihanna who are divas streams  :omg1:

This is stupid. Streams are not sells and in fact most people who stream do not buy. It's not like songs. There Streaming is like radio. The top Albums should always be sells. But What ever Britney, or whoever breaks it, will hold the record for first week sells of a female artist.

I don't like this new rule tbh. Billboard 200 is about album sales, it has nothing to do with streams wtf. I think it's unfair to artists who are actually SELLING albums.

especially when one person could stream the same song or album 20 times a day; it inflates the sells.

This. Hot 100 for individual songs - okay. But not the Billboard 200. People can replay the album all day and this won't give an accurate representation of how many people actually like the album and it'll just tell how much an album is liked even by less people

THIS.

All these stupid rules and changes are why sales mean absolutely nothing.

With this change I think the sales of albums end up dying :frenchy:  the industry will be fully streams :tea2:  with this change anyone will buy albums if they can download for spotify or others platform and this will count as sales for their favorite artist. :aww1:

This. Unless they strike a deal with streaming apps and companies like Spotify to properly compensate the artist, it will hit the music industry HARD.

And Britney-related, this is bad. Her streaming stats are bad compared to other artists.

it reflects how weak her fanbase is and this britney own fault for not promoting herself

then I guess he sales well suffer doesn't matter if you like it or not teens is a major part of her fanabase and if she doesn't have it she is a flop

Again it comes down to britney own fault for not teaching to her fans or giving anyone a reason why care about her?

Well they may count it as Sales on the Billboard 200 and Soundsan but Guinness World Records will not count it as such. They will be looking at physical sales. So Britney will be safe in the Record Books.
