No, it's just that Britney's fanbase isn't full of young no life teenager who have nothing to do but playing songs on repeat :smokeney:

It used to be and lbr, Britney was the most successful teen star of all time. :yaknow:

Lots of stars her age and target "older" people have more followers.

Well they may count it as Sales on the Billboard 200 and Soundsan but Guinness World Records will not count it as such. They will be looking at physical sales. So Britney will be safe in the Record Books.

This tbh Britney has the highest first week sales. Streaming =/= sales. This doesn't jeopardize her record at all and it may even help keep it.

Taylor is huge as selling albums but she now only will have the support of YouTube and Vevo :thatsfunny:  which also fall under the new rule, this rule could balance her in sales with her contemporary :pieceofwhat:  who aren't huge like her in sales but are superior in streams like miley  eg, :lips1:  Taylor definitely will have to return to the streams if she wanna survive. :lmaolol:

I don't see how this will hurt sales, if anything it should boost sales because a lot of people stream. The sales only show how popular an album is tbh so it shouldn't matter to fans. I think it only affects the music industry and I'm honestly not sure if this is a negative for them either.

Streams =/= sales , it's that simple. And billboard 200 is a albums SALES chart, not a songs stream chart :drown:. I don't even know how that rule could have been even considered in the first place, it just doesn't make any sense at all. Can you tell me how streaming songs should be counted as sales ? How is that even logical ?

Do you think it's normal if an artist who has fans who play songs on repeat FREELY like crazy could be higher on the charts than someone who actually sold more (thanks to people who BOUGHT the album) but nobody streamed his songs (probably because, you know, people BOUGHT it so they don't need to STREAM it)? No it's not.

The chart will be so inaccurate, like, almost anybody could be high now as long as you have crazy fans that will play your songs on repeat. But if you have great REAL sales, but you're not popular for streams or you're not even on spotify, you might be low in the chart. It won't be representative of the "highest SELLING albums" anymore.

I was checking spotify and the B army and her TEAM should give more promotion :mahhaw:  there are artists like Becky G who? and others who are irrelevant almost reach 100M hits with a song :umomg:  and many of her contemporary did so well, to britney her most listened song is work bitch with over 40M hits :crying1:  You better work B-Army. :fabrance:

The Britney social media tried to push Spotify in 2011 and Hannah did in 2013 but the fanbase made fun of Britney for doing so...

Here's her first tweet about it I think but she did a lot of Spotify pushing for while.

This is a great rule! Let's face it, the industry is dying. People don't buy albums anymore, they just stream them or download them "illegally". Only people who buy albums nowadays are the fans, and sometimes not even the fans buy them.  :bj:

We may not be great on streaming, but, we are great where it counts. Physical sales. Even though "BJ" was a weak Album it was up to Britney's Fans to buy it. That didn't happen so she didn't do well on the charts. I believe if everyone bought the Album the first week "Britney Jean" would of came out as #1.

I don't like this new rule tbh. Billboard 200 is about album sales, it has nothing to do with streams wtf. I think it's unfair to artists who are actually SELLING albums.

THIS!!!   I totally agree! :mhm:  I guess I understand streams counting for HOT 100 or singles but for albums!!??  :xf11:  Seriously??  :nowaygif:

Yeah i remember this. But i think is because Britney is a little weak in social media people didnt pay attention to that.. I mean Kendal Jenner has 16 million followers on instagram and Britney 3 and a half million. She definetly needs to keep being active like she is doing lately..

People aren't really buying albums anymore though. I think that's why billboard changed the rule. And maybe they did some math and figured out that 1500 streams might be the monetary equivalent of an album sale. Maybe soon they'll stop counting album sales and move more towards streams, single downloads, vevo views etc. They gotta go where everyone is consuming the music and since they can't count torrents or other illegal downloads they figured streams was the next best yardstick to measure by. Just my best guest but anyway if anyone here is concerned for Britney's #s then just stream and buy her albums like crazy.
