Dev Hynes (Producer from the Britney Jean sessions) SLAMS Britney's management, will.i.am!

Recommended Posts

Dev Hynes, one of the producers who was recruited to create tracks for Britney Jean but was ultimately cut out, gave an interview to The Guardian about his life and career, and mentioned Britney and her team. A small excerpt from the interview:

His year has also included writing songs for Britney, none of which made it on to her album. He was, he says, "actually so stoked about them – something I don't say often. But they'd always come back with why they didn't like it and it wouldn't make any sense. I'd almost prefer them to say: 'We're scared we're not going to make any money so we're just going to use Will.i.am.' It's funny – the people in charge of a lot of these artists … I don't want to say they're not real people, but it's not a fan sensibility. I feel like that's what makes the best music, when people are a fan of the person they're working with."

And he counts himself as a solid Britney fan, "maybe just a bit more than most 27-year-olds – she's such a huge part of our growing up. And I'm just not sure whether Will.i.am or whoever really care about her." I try not to get distracted by an internet vision of a fresh new spat: "Dev Hynes says Will.i.am doesn't care about Britney."

Hynes is, as one friend shrewdly put it, "demographically famous" now – if you're under 35 or so and have any interest in pop, you'll know who he is. But I suggest that this year he's crossed over into a higher tier of celebrity.

lmao oh lord. Seeing these old threads is revealing. Production-wise, BJ was such a flop.

The only producer that ended up on bj that i liked was william orbit for alien which was the only song i liked just cause of how good the production was, he did some good ass work on madonnas ray of light :crying1:

Imo Alien is not only the best song on that album, but one of the best of her career. I hate that it go buried because it was on BJ and because of that ridiculous "real vocals" audio that was floating around. That song has given me a good cry a time or two.

That fucking glitch. No joke, I was crying listening to this song one time (it was a really long, super bad day) and that glitch happened and I got so angry lmao. I'm like half crying, half cussing out the damn record, in my car in my apartment parking lot. I probably looked like a hot damn mess hahahaha. :crying1:
