Larry tried his best for Britneys singles to get shelved and only the albums would be on for sale. IMO it worked perfectly.. But it costed the singles

What I mean is. Larry tried to remove singles from stores and enforced Britneys albums everywhere... This way people would have to buy Britneys albums, and not the singles

What sucks is...

These singles didnt go #1

1) Sometimes, 1999

2) You Drive Me Crazy, 1999

3) Oops!..I Did It Again, 2000

4) I'm A Slave 4 U ,2001

5) Toxic, 2003

and the whole airplay ban was planned by Larry so that Britney could sell more albums than singles.. its genius yes But I'm against it :zoomzoom:

I dont care if BOMT wouldnt hit 30 million IDC Britney lost with billboard. :(

If Larry hadnt planned the single mess. Britney would have these #1 singles

1) BOMT

2) YDMC

3) Sometimes

4) Oops

5) IAS4U

6) Toxic

7) Gimme More

8) Womanizer

9) Circus

10) 3

11) HIAM

12) TTWE

13) S&S

14) S&M

Baby One More Time the album would be at 22 million

Oops would be under 20 million, also we wouldnt have that 1.4 million record, her first week sales would be poor.. like 500K max or sth

...Larry has nothing to do with that though... It's getting bored blaiming Larry for everything, aren't we running out of things we can blame him for? That is a label decision, Larry isn't hired by her label, he can't tell them what to do, or what to release, he can negotiate like he did when Britney wanted MATM, but it's not up to him whether to release what and when, and how.

That's because now are more important the singles than the albums, but back then it was different. Singles were meant to promote the album, why spend so much time and effort making an album when the gp will end up only buying the 3-4 singles they released? I think it makes more sense to me focusing in the album and not in the individual singles. I know it sucks that amazing songs like Toxi or Oops didn't reach the #1, however, the albums did and I think that's great too. :yaknow:

It wasn't Larry it was the clear channel dispute, that lead to all the Britney singles flopping. Clear Channel bribed billboard and made sure some places wouldn't carry her singles :4music:

they purposely didnt go to clear channel. they went for pepsi for album sales.

Britney wouldve got 13#1 singles ugh stupid team

Britney didnt know much either

ugh but Britneys albums sales would be alot lower

BOMT would be at 22 Million

OIDIA would be at 16 Million (she wouldnt have the highest first week  sales)

Britney would be at 10 million

ITZ would be at 8 million

Before iTunes and before people depended on the Internet to get their music, a lot of people didn't bother buying singles. They just went ahead and bought the whole album because it was a better deal, and it came with the single you wanted anyway. Singles weren't a major source of income; they really were to just promote the albums and give you a taste of what was on them. It was just a different time. Now there's a very different mindset about singles because you can pick and choose what songs to buy off albums. You couldn't do that back then.

People who were one-hit wonders and who had a really hot single, but not enough good songs on the album usually faded into extinction quite quickly.

This whole thing about Larry is just really random to me.

ikr i fucking hate how it's all about the money. well they would of probably gotten even more money if they didn't try to make it all about it. dumb asses tbh. britney deserved all #1s. and imagine if she was the modern breakout star. she would sell more than the girls of today and spread even more than wildfire

I agree with you, it was way different back then.

Who cares about #1 seriously ? Albums are way more important and brings them more money than singles, so why the hell would they prefer to sell more singles than albums ?? #1 singles means nothing, the important thing is that these songs are iconic even without being #1.
