Katy would probably last up to 2003 tbh

Britney would be the sole survivor as she is now :queenflopga:

So like

1) The Fame, 1998

2) The Fame Monster, 1999

3) Born This Way, 2001

4) ARTPOP, 2003

5) Cheek To Cheek, 2004

1) One Of The Boys, 1998

2) Teenage Dreams, 2000

3) Prism, 2003

hmmmm  :omg1: I guess i was wrong.. They would have slayed tbh (but lets remember that music back then was so different and I dont think that Gaga nor Katy's music would be as successful)  :pieceofwhat:

Let's compare their longevity based on their first single, shall we? :inneresting:

Britney Spears - ...Baby One More Time

Lady GaGa - Just Dance

Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl

Katy would have received A FUCKTONE of backlash and she would have drowned in all that negative feedback, so by 1999... :bai:

Britney's impact is a fact, so there's no discussing that. Gaga's first single was also a hit, so both of them go to the next category: Successful eras.

By Britney's third era, she was everywhere and everyone knew who she was! Pepsi, NFL... It was a huge success although it met with a lot of drama due to the good girl gone bad publicity.

By Gaga's third era... Well...

Britney fourth era has been one of the best carreer-wise, amazing album, amazing tour, and a fucktone of controversy.

Gaga's is... a duet album...

I can't see how Gaga will come out with her own Blackout tbh :yaknow: Britney's EIGHTH album flopped just like Gaga's THIRD. So Britney's longevity can't be compared to those of these so-called princesses of pop. :umno:

You all are forgetting something!!

Without Britney, there's no gaga or katy!!

They were born already! Why not get into the music sooner??? Because Britney had to be their influence, inspiration, motivation, goal, etc.. etc.. etc..

The standard for performers was a lot higher back then. :yaknow:

Popstars were held to higher standards--they needed to be pretty, good singers, great entertainers, instead of this "relatable" bullshit now.

The fact that Britney was dragged back then for lipping in spite of giving a good show tells you Katy and Gaga wouldn't have made it.

Britney paved a way for stars like Katy Perry. She simply wouldn't go big back in the 90s. Back then, Madonna's relevance was a lot stronger and I think Gaga would have been crushed by people saying she's just a cheap copy.

Well their genres of music are completely different from what was pop back then. Gaga would be gone by the fame monster if her videos were racy as they are. But IMO Katy would create controversy with I kissed a girl and one of the boys however if she were to release her later albums she would have a strong fan base just not as strong as Britney :3

The times are different in the late 90's early 00's the public liked performances as Britney, BSB, Nsync the media had as reference MJ, Janet etc, artist with breathtaking choreographies etc. Gaga's concept maybe had worked well in the 80's as semi-electronic as she did in the late 00's  with her electro pop because was another generation I don't think she would have had the same success than Britney in 1998 because people of 90's wanted another sound, concepts, and performances they were tired of electronic disco-music from the 70's and 80's  and artists with the same gaga style, then the music in the 90's was pure pop and later was functioned with Hip hop and others urban rhythms. Katy would have been very boring as performance for that time.

Even Xtina was a lot better than both of them and she didn't overshadowed Britney and look where she is now.. Katy and Gaga wouldnt have last 5minutes back then, especially Katy with her basic performances and her lack of charisma.

I was about to write the same thing before I read your comment...

Britney is the sole reason that Katy and Gaga EXIST today...
