Lots of fans made a big deal about "how bad" Britney Jean was, just because it wasn't Blackout. They said the same with Circus, and Femme Fatale. Britney Jean wasn't the best, I'll admit it, but it wasn't that bad neither.

I was so excited when the album came out, because, I thought this era (the Vegas era) was going to last so much more than other eras, so I thought it was going to have more singles than any other, because, you know, it's the current era, they have to take advantage of the current album, and they have to keep Britney current in the music scene. That's why I always thought BJ tracks had a lot of potential to have at least a moderate success as singles. Each track is so different, that they could have release half of the tracks as singles and it wouldn't bother  GP, because they could have appealed to different audiences: Alien, the Britney-ish track, ISBE and TIG, something more dance and they could have done great in Europe, HOT or DC for the ballad lovers, NTIFY as the happiness anthem, Passenger, something more mystical yet catchy, and Tik Tik Boom for the ones that love the sexiest side of Britney, all of them different from Work Bitch or Perfume. I know many could say that BJ doesn't deserve too much singles, but it is the latest album, and her team should have taken more advatange of it, and just 2 singles was so wrong anyway. Even Blackout had 3 singles besides the lack of promo. :yaknow:

Alien is great, and the rest of Britney Jean too :dealwitit:

People only complain about BJ because it flopped  :4music:

And it flopped because people wouldn't stop complaining :yaknow:(And the lack of promo)

It flopped because people heard what was offered and said "No thanks" or had not even known about it (in terms of the gp, thanks to lack of promo). The first mistake was releasing Work Bitch as a lead single. It doesn't sound like a "Britney Spears" song. And then Perfume came when Hold On Tight or Alien would have been smarter choices.

But .... I put on my perfume :crying3:

The song is okay, it just feels very half-finished. The hook is annoying and the bridge goes nowhere. Is this seriously the guy who did Ray of Light?

I feel like the fan reaction online and the fact that the album didn't sell much and her focus shifting to Vegas is pretty much why they didn't move forward with single 3. Had Jordan over there on flopsheavy not made a big deal about those most likely altered vocals on Alien they may have considered releasing the song to radio but since that happened and went sorta viral Team Britney said "Nevermind, time to move on", which could probably be why she went public with the fact that she's working on B9 even though it's no where near coming out it seems.

I really do hope they finally notice the fan reaction is negative :orangu:

Sorry, but it's such an insult to Circus and Femme Fatale to be talked about like they were in any way like Britney Jean. :orangu: Those albums had flaws, but they had many gems, especially Femme Fatale.

Circus and FF had very positive fan feedback at first. Britney Jean was literally the only Britney album I experienced, where feedback was polarizing to negative.

Britney Jean has its gems as well. And yeah, I feel the same about the feedback, but I have to add that it was the first album were people were truly believing that we were going to have a Blackout 2.0 just because of that tweet, and I think that's what hurt them the most (not even the "most personal" promise). They were expecting an album full of Danja kind of songs, and when they got something different, they didn't have anything but bad comments. Of course, that was after the first week, because I remember when the songs started to leak, everyone was so excited, then the album debuted at #4 and suddenly, everything was full of Myah Marie vocals, and was weak, and basic and stuff.

About Circus and Femme Fatale, I said it because I always read comments about how bad they were, again, because the majority of people in here put Blackout as the best album, the one and only, and simply anything that isn't Blackout isn't good. Probably you're not one of those persons, but I was talking in general.

I truly believe Britney Jean was and still is good. I still listen to it, and I do recognize it's not the best album, but I think it was good, really good, better than Blackout and Femme Fatale at least :orlynow:  I think Alien should have been the first single, then Work Bitch, Hold on Tight, ISBE or TIG, Tik Tik Boom, Passenger or NTIFY.

People were divided about Work Bitch, they were meh about Perfume. I only remember positivity about Passenger. After the album was up for streaming, everyone was still kinda meh about it. They were nowhere as slayed by any of it like they were about Hold It Against Me, which was well deserved or when we heard tracks like Inside Out and Criminal.

The fanbase overrates Blackout as the best album, but it underperformed at the time (only # 2 on the charts). I don't think the fanbase would've cared as much if BJ flopped if they actually liked it. :yaknow: Blackout was nothing like any Britney album at the time, too, but everyone welcomed it.

That is your opinion and I respect that, but imho Femme Fatale was "soulless" but at least had topnotch production all throughout. Unlike Britney Jean, which is soulless AND has bad, half-finished production all throughout.

Who knows maybe they'll rework the song and give it a proper single release kinda like they did "Radar" but better. But honestly I love the song, the fact that it's missing a proper bridge doesn't bother me, I think it's a different way of going about a making song. What I don't like about the song is the fact that it got the extra robotic effect which could have been scaled back some and still would have given the song the "alien-y" effect. But the lyrics are so beautiful and meaningful so how can you really be that mad at it? It's some of the deepest lyrics we've officially gotten out of her in her entire career.

I would also like to add that some of the negative feedback can be blamed on Beyoncé because when that album dropped a lot of fans felt a certain way about BJ after that. I personally cannot stand Beyonce and I think there is better music out there but when you look back at how she released her album about a week or two after Britney and then everyone fell in love with it, then looking at BJ it just seemed like there was no point in even trying with what they put out. That might also be why team Britney didn't follow up with single 3 right away and then ultimately scrapped the album. If they could better predict how it would be recieved, what drama was to come and the fan reaction to that drama, they probably would have never released the album. I just hope on B9 she does something different sounding, that she doesn't promise too much to the fans beforehand and that she releases at least 3 singles/MVs from this one. But we'll have to wait and see.

I think that's the key. They're experts in building too high expectatives, and that makes the final product don't look as good as it is, because people was expecting more. In this case, everybody was expecting "the most personal album", "Blackout 2.0", "something more urban". I think is better not to expect nothing at all, so whatever she comes up with will be well received (just like Beyoncé did). However, I don't think that's reason enough to scrap all the work and effort they put in making Britney Jean, just becasue someone sold more with their album. If she's that competitive, she should have said "oh yeah?, here I come with my 14 videoclips as well" :thatsfunny: and release a video album for Britney Jean as well, and even if everybody would have called her a copycat, we'd have had our 14 videoclips to make it through the year :bomt: Hahahaha just in my dreams :crying1:
