And I see it as the real Justin Break up song. This is why they broke up. She didn't feel like he was with her enough both because of travel for work and that she wasn't getting what she wanted out of him emotionally.

its clearly about justin. it's everytime 2.0 and i think it's about the parts of her he has never seen. like she's never really opened up to him. maybe her bad sides (like the kind of person she was during her breakdown) cuz she was too afraid of what he might think about them. because he was everything to her. like his opinion, if his reaction would of been bad, i think it would of killed her. i think she would b super sad. so she kept them hidden. and when they were over, she felt like they weren't even truly together. not completely at least

It's not about JT. It's just about being with someone who's not giving their all in the relationship, someone's who's distant. They only come around when they want sex or attention but as soon as it starts to go deeper than that, they dip leaving Britney unfulfilled and wondering what's going on. With Britney and Justin, it seems like they thought they knew each other well but once they broke up they changed and there's a lot betrayal, especially on JT's part. That doesn't really match up with Shadow. For all we know the song was inspired by something that happened to the other songwriters of the song. It's a beautiful song nonetheless.
