When Britney Jean was released I didn't give it much of a chance. My first impression of the album of the album was overall bad and I didn't give it many listens since then. So this is me re listening to the album in full and sharing my opinion.

1. Alien - The album opener probably had the most potential to be something amazing. But with the weird vocals and that horrendous production glitch makes me wish that the demo was the final version.

2. Work Bitch - Maybe not the best single choice but Work Bitch is easily the strongest song on the album and is possibly the greatest workout song to ever exsist.

3. Perfume - Another highlight of the album. Britney vocals brings me back to early 2000's Britney. Sure the lyrics are a bit corny at times but is the albums strongest ballad.

4. It Should Be Easy - I'm almost certain this is a #willpower reject which makes me wonder how it made the album. I like when the beat drops but unfortunately it's not enough to save the song.

5. Tik Tik Boom - Dated production and overall just a weak song. T.I. being a feature sounds promising but he does nothing for the song.

6. Body Ache - Aweful and dated production. The song used to be a highlight for me but how poorly I was produced just makes me upset. Who's working on your albums Brit? Monkeys?

7. Till It's Gone - Finally the album starts to pick up again. Another song that reminds me of early 2000's Britney splashed with modern Britney and it works perfectly. Slightly dated beats but is another highlight.

8. Passenger - Something about the whole (I won't even say her name) rumours makes this song rub me the wong way.

9. Chillin' With You - A song with her sister sounded good in theory. It's cute.. Ish. Jamie Lynn kinda outshines Britney on this one.

10. Don't Cry - I personally can't stand the song. I do appreciate the production but the emotionless vocals kill it for me.

11. Brightest Morning Star - Not really a standout but it's song for her boys so for that I'll give this one a hall pass.

12. Hold On Tight - Probably the best bonus track and another album highlight.

13. Now That I Found You - If you can get over the fact that it sounds like Wake Me Up this is actually a pretty amazing song. I wonder how this and the other bonus tracks didn't make the standard but a few other questionable songs did.

Good review. I pretty much agree with all of this. It's a weak album that could have been so much better if these songs had been taken in slightly different directions. :yaknow:

I petition that we just focus on the upcoming music. Move on with it. Let it go. :mhm:

I liked your review but i totally disagree with what you wrote about TTB, Don't Cry, NTIFY and Passenger. For me, those are probably some of the best songs off the album (except for NTIFY, never liked that song and it doesn't have anything to do with that Wake Me Up thing   :umno:).

Mhm I like your review. It is a fact that Britney Jean is filled with AMAZING songs, which haven been properly finished, so it left them sounding pretty ugly, basic and outdated. Have the songs been done and produced more professionally Britney Jean would have easily been one of her best albums. This way, with this production, its basic, outdated, and raped with stems. Too bad, it had plenty of potential. Let's hope that next album will make it up. I am counting on Britney to slay us all tbh :yay1:

1) BMS is not about her kids, it's about God.

2) Don't Cry doesn't sound emotionless :frenchy: What did you expect? Teary vocals? :eyeroll:

3) TTB does NOT sound dated, TIG does (you can thank David Guetta for that) :crying1: But I do agree about T.I's featuring :mhm:

4) Also agree with Alien

I feel like Brightest Morning Star is about both God and her children.

I said Til It's Gone is a bit dated but it still remains a standout

Well, she only mentioned God, so did Sia. Dr. Luke was the one who said he THOUGHT it was about her kids.

And I know, the beats used for TIG were used for Shot Me Down :bigtime: But I'm not complaining, TIG is one of my fave songs :mhm:

:tea2:  Yep.

Britney Jean deserves all the shade it gets because both her team and will.i.am tried it with this obvious rushed, incomplete demo album that heavily features her studio twin throughout the majority of it on lead vocals.  I still listen to the album in full but it annoys me that I have to delude myself into believing Britney is singing 100% because if that were indeed the case, BJ would stand as one of her best vocally.  There's not much talk singing and there are a lot of interesting vocal ticks going on... but we all know the reason why.  I have faith in her next album, because her name alone isn't going to be enough next time around.   Thankfully BJ is largely forgotten aside from "Work Bitch" so she can rebound and start anew.

Yeah I feel like something happened and everything became rushed. I'm not sure who's to blame but that's the only explanation I can think of. How else can some these obvious production flaws have been overlooked. A stan can only be hopeful for the future.

It's sad to read this but you're totally right  :crying1: Although WB is not the only good song off it. Most of the songs are cool but... yes, producers fucked it up  :surewhatever:

I agree, for example, I love "Passenger" it is one of the best songs Britney has ever lent her name to and one of the few off BJ that is complete.  It would have made a perfect single because of it's board appeal sonically and lyrically.  (Kudos to Katy Perry, she is def turning into quite the pop music songwriter for other artists.)  Vocally it's the strongest performance on that album and my favorite overall... which pisses me off.  I enjoy Britney Marie over Britney Jean?  That ain't right.

I agree with your review. The main problem with BJ was the production, specially the vocal production. If the vocals in some songs didn't sound so "weird" it would bee much better, because most of the songs are actually really good. I've always thought that if they had taken a month or two to really finish the album it would have been amazing.

I agree with you, some songs should have been taken in other direction, this album tries to fix good lyrics with EDM and in my opinion it wasn't the best option, let's wait for album 9, and see if Britney (that I'm sure she is) is able to make us forget about BJ.
