Okay we all know Britney surpassed Prince, but I do believe Britney has surpassed Janet in 04'.  Britney was always #1 where as Janet was always #2 to Madonna...

Britney has 6#1 albums and shes only 33, where as Janet and Mariah have 6 but are old like 50 or sth... Britney is gonna beat them soon with B9!

Although Janet is insanely good, and has a VERY good career behind her, she was never that big outside the USA, at least not here in EU , ppls didnt care for her much at all. While Britney was HUGE, and she still is! People in Europe adore her music :tbh: So my vote is, Britney has a better career :mhm:

Britney has that impact in people that only a few artists have, She is loved by millions around the world and her worldwide sales are fucking amazing! When people think in Britney Spears they think in a big ass pop star. (Cuz i know peoples mind lol. Not but for the comments i've heard). Janet doesn't have that. I think she is/was more like a local artist like beyonce and taylor S.

I just remembered that Britney and Janet have something in common:

Justin Timberlake screwed them over. :bitchplz: His flop self..... Janet never really bounced back from how he let her take the fall for the Suberbowl scandal. That's why her career kind of faded away.

They aren't local. :orangu:

I find it so ironic that Britney stans question Janet's impact when Britney was a living example of that.

I don't think they move masses in my country as Britney does,.. that's what I mean.

NO.

Janet's influence on music and performances are visible to so many RESPECTABLE artists to this day.

Britney's image may be frequently copied, but her music isnt the blueprint for anything.

Plus the majority of Britney's greatest moments are shades of Janet, so the poll is rather redundant.

Honestly LBR I'm sure everyone knows this but Janet is not even considered pop royalty I hate to say that but it's true , she does everything Michael does

:zoomzoom:

Statements like these are what make me fear Britney's legacy will be forgotten by the next generation.

The disrespect for Janet is so unnaturally strong not just from this thread, but from this fan base in general. :orangu:

While people kiss that overrated hag's ass because of a little tongue she gave Britney over 10 years ago. The influence Janet had on Britney's music and dancing is obvious, while you actually have to reach to get the Madonna influences. :ipass:

And Britney can sell as many albums (or as less, at this point) as she wants, but she still does not have a Rhythm Nation or Velvet Rope, which has an influence that crosses generations. That alone puts her way below Janet, still.

Janet is amazing and most would agree on that point, especially if they were aware of her impact in the 80s and 90s. For me it's hard to say who has more success. Britney has more in terms of sales and the like but Janet is respected as FAR more than Michael Jackson's little sister. Lbr, no one questiond whether or not Janet can sing or dance. Even at 35 and up, she was doing what Britney was doing 10+ years ago during the All For You era (what we wish Britney would do now at 33).

Overall, Britney is more of a international success, but Janet's accomplishments are undeniable. :mhm:

This thread is disrespectful to Janet. Just because she is not performing now doesn't mean she's been forgotten. She is a huge influence on Britney to this day. People need to stop being so quick to dismiss people. No one stays on top forever but that doesn't mean their impact is not felt. Janet and Britney are different and so Britney couldn't have taken over or beaten her. And I love Britney but come on now, give me a break. If you feel this way about Janet now and all you care about is numbers of sales and international reach then just go ahead and hang up your Britney stan card now because her impact will start to diminish too (it already has in some ways).

To be fair, she was for the longest time questioned if she could really sing. That is why her comparisons with Britney are very spot on because Janet didn't really have a strong voice. It was only later in her career that she tried to showcase her voice more. :yaknow:

The dancing was NEVER questioned though and she still slays everyone at 40++.

I like Janet... but like Madonna>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Janet... lbqh...want me to pull the reciepts? and yes I admit Janet influenced Britney's iconic success.. LBR we wouldn't get slave or toxic without Janet.. or even Stronger... But Britney wouldn't exist without Madonna boo...  :ipass:

I guess you can put it this way

Madonna Vs. Gaga

Janet Vs. Britney

e.t.c the old gen vs the new gen :tbh:

I really don't see a lot of Madonna's influence on Britney though. Madonna has/had a more campy style of performing, while Janet focused a lot more on the choreo like Britney. Maybe a case could be made for Breathe on Me on Onyx, but that entire tour looked mostly like a homage to The Velvet Rope Tour. :yaknow:

And yes, Madonna is more successful sales-wise than Janet
