Statements like these are what make me fear Britney's legacy will be forgotten by the next generation.

No one even gives Janet that kind of attention LBR .. I like Janet but it's true , & just cuz Janet doesn't get that same attention how does that even affect Britney ?

@@britneystanstan @@LiaLovesGodney very fair assessments from both and I agree.   :applause:

Janet is the reason dance is such a prevalent part of musical performances for female artists, especially Britney who regularly cites Ms. Jackson as her main inspiration. Janet has set and broken so many records (just as Britney has) but musically has covered array of topics, crossed music genres, and is deemed an undeniable pop pioneer regardless of who tries it about her lack of commercial success for her last few projects.  I love Britney but her subject matter primarily revolves around boys, love gone good & bad, being desirable, and boys again.  Nothing wrong with delivering good ear candy, but she has ways to go before even coming close to touching Janet's varied discography.

I agree. I'd love for Britney to go into different topics for her lyrics and genres. She can't sing about being sexy in the club and hot guys but so many times. After Blackout, that had become a bit tired. Circus was the closest thing to her using various sounds, same with ITZ.

Absolutely.  Britney Jean was their idea of a more "maturing Britney" which they sort of got half right -- there weren't many songs about her being the undeniable sex object -- but needs vast improvement for her next album.  I hope that's the case, she has the history behind her to deliver something more from her heart and not from her '04 time capsule.

Although Janet is insanely good, and has a VERY good career behind her, she was never that big outside the USA, at least not here in EU , ppls didnt care for her much at all. While Britney was HUGE, and she still is! People in Europe adore her music :tbh: So my vote is, Britney has a better career :mhm:

totally agree janet is not big in Europe if you stopped and asked people on the street what janets albums are called and to sing a janet song they wouldn't be able to even name a song.everyone knows Britney music and alot of people try to keep up with britney news.  i remember being in a tutorial in University before and caught  out the person beside me googling Britney news on the computer.

i talked about this with my parents, both of whom are well-versed in pop culture and who experienced Janet's career. in terms of sheer celebrity and iconic stature, then yes, we all agreed that Britney's surpassed Janet (though they will contend with Janet's hella iconic RS cover, which I have to admit, is more iconic than any of Brit's -- no shade).

But in terms of content, there's no contest. The Velvet Rope alone shits all over anything Brit's done content/lyric/material-wise. However, the impact of Blackout on current pop music is indelible, though the social issues and sheer confessional lyrics all over masterpieces such as RN and VR make Janet a far more substantial pop star.

just my 2 cents tho :)

Janet has done so much for pop and lbr, pop stars like Madonna benefit from being incredibly active deacdes later. I don't see Britney doing that so she has the chance of being forgotten.

She's not that person from 2004 anymore and we accept that. But at least show us who you are NOW instead of giving us half assed attempts at bringing Primeney back :zoomzoom: She should give us something new.

And Britney has much more ability as a lyricist/songwriter than what was shown on Britney Jean. She has grown a lot as a person and as a fan, I want to hear about her growth through her music.
