I know, it's absolutely horrific. I can't imagine being in that situation.

They need to be stopped. I'm sick of them. They've killed a lot of Americans and Chinese and stuff I hate people sometimes.

Even more proof that letting Muslims into your country is detrimental.

That's a very broad generalization...majority of Muslims are peaceful. We cannot blame the entire Muslim population because of one man who was not OFFICIALLY linked to ISIS. I watched the siege unfolding about 7 hours in until it ended.

He obviously was extremely mentally unstable and had quite a criminal record prior to the siege. 47 or so sexual assault charges and penning horrible letters to families of dead Australian soldiers. Also, was possibly an accessory in the murder of his ex wife.

 

What is MOST important is that this was an isolated incident and there are no proven organizational links to ISIS. Rather, he was most likely inspired by ISIS and the ideology to commit this act of terror.

 

I am not Muslim, I am American...Greek Orthodox...privileged white girl but we must keep our minds and hearts open to remind that the majority of the Muslim population do not consist of extremists. There are extremists in EVERY religion INCLUDING Christianity.

please educate yourself by looking up the definition of racism in the dictionary. If I said something against Christians would that be considered racist? No! So how is talking about Islam any different?

Islam is much more a race then just a religion, as it's more confined to a area then Christianity.

 

Though, if you said something against Christianity, such as they are mass murders (which is more accurate then saying that for Muslims), I would still of kicked it out of the thread. Radicalism is a thing in every religion, for example, Hitler's extermination of Jewish peoples was based upon Christianity, and radicalized. I don't see people saying, then or now, that Christians thus should not be let into countries, even though Christian radicals have caused far more damage then Muslim ones.

One of the hostages who tragically passed was the manager of the cafe who apparently tried to get the gun away from the gunman whilst he was asleep. I have been hung up on this the past 24 hrs. Hats off to NSW Police, paramedics, etc. I am so impressed with them as they were cool calm and collected but also keeping their highest concern the well being of the hostages instead of the hostage taker. That is not something I see much here in the US as police are eager to take out the perpetrator without too much thought of someone in the crossfire. Serves as a great example to the rest of the world and their law enforcements.

I just hope the country remains strong and defiant as this type of situation is very rare due to strict gun control laws.

The two victims made enormous sacrifices - though it is a tragedy they passed they will be remembered for their courage + that is what is so important in reminding people in dark times that the amount of good people in the world heavily outweigh the bad.

Sorry - I'm just emotional over this tho this is such a regular occurrence where I live it just distressed me seeing the images unfolding live as they happened.

I guess the American version is a hillbilly, though that can be both generic and to a specific group of people who live in the Appalachians on the East Coast and have family feuds and drink moonshine and shoot stuff. We also say hick, do they say that ova there?
