Racism runs rampant in rap music no matter who it is rapping. Azaelia is a hypocrite because her lyrics are full of the n word and such, and of course no one of ny race should be unable to go into their preferred genre. But Iggy has plenty of faults like just about every other rapper that's come out in the past decade. Personally, I don't like any of them. They all give rap and hip hop a shitty name.

But black cultural appropriation is an issue when it's done in bad taste (see: Miley). Is Azaelia the best person to point that out? No. She raps about how wet her pussy is and how luxurious her weaves are. Iggy isn't too far off from that and then goes too far with her hood, southern chick gimmick.

They can all stfu. All I hope is that this duet with Brit goes well.

If I were team Britney I would just ask Nicki Minaj to do the verse and leave Iggy on the album version. The appropriation thing is a big deal and idk if her team wants Britney associated with that. To respond to someone earlier, the problem is not that Iggy's white trying to do rap, there's been plenty of white people in rap. The most successful ones never came off as trying to sound black AND that's not just Iggy's accent she's definitely changing her voice to sound like that. The Bestie Boys, Eminem, they just rap with skill (even though Em got called out for using the N word in a freestyle from before he was signed) and most black people like myself can appreciate a white person who raps well. It becomes a problem for us when we see only the white artists being praised in the mainstream media for doing subpar raps while their black counterparts are not getting as much respect in comparison even though they're rapping better. It's not real hip hop, it's more like pop-rap but they won't call it that. So basically an identity that rap has is being taken away by artists like Iggy. I understood what Azealia was trying to say but since most people don't like her they'll just focus on calling her bitter, mean, etc. Say what you want about her as an artist, i happen to like her but i understand why people are turned off. That's really beside the point but whatever. Anyway it's messy right now so Britney's team might be considering doing something about it and like I said if i was her team i would just switch iggy out for nicki to avoid the mess (of course that could create a bigger mess). But who knows what will happen, we'll see. Maybe by the time the single is released this will all have boiled over and no one will care.

I am referring to Azo's interview when she puts on this victim mentality again to indirectly explain why she and many other black artists are not successful or as successful as the white artists.

The thing is, it's what pop music does, it's what the machine does. It takes elements from the underground (not only hip hop, but rock, blues, etc) and markets it in a way that mass consumers could understand. That is why most pop stars are caricatures of whatever they're "representing".

It may not be the most right or "authentic" thing, but I find it unfair how Iggy is singled out, in spite of this happening FOR DECADES. If she weren't the most successful female rapper of 2014, no one would be saying anything and they're just using her as an easy target because she's white (mind you, tons of black artists present themselves as caricatures of what black culture looks like, even more than Iggy). So people are going to make this another race thing and certain artists get what they want and that is be talked about.
