Why Britney is a massive legend:

1) Her impact since hit me baby one more time

2) She influenced every female performer after her

3) Her sales um when will yo shit faves sell 1.319 million in the first week, that bitch tracy or whatever can suck a dick

4) Her longevity, I like how haters bring up Britney Jean.. um Femme Fatale sold more records than 4, and Back To Basics and Beyonce. Britney Jean scalped 2 million records worldwide. Bionic and Lotus combined is 2 million..

5) Unlike a certain overrated hoe, Britney has had 3 huge singles in the 2010s. HIAM, TTWE, and S&S. Beyonce had how many um none.. Xtina umm okay singing on the bridge totally counts.. But I'll be humble and let her name in, Xtina had 3 massive singles in the 2010s.. none of them were solo btw

6) Britney has a #1 single in each of the past 3 decades, 3rd place with the most #1s tied with Mariah and Janet, just behind Metamucil and Barbra. Doesn't that put Britney as the same league as Janet and Mariah tho?

so the haters can suck a pussy or two

Legend Hierarchy for Females

1) Madonna - Whitney Houston - Barbra Streissand

2) Britney - Janet - Mariah

3) Alannis Morsate (cant spell her name and dont care :sorrynotsorry: - Shania Twain - Cher

She's definitely a pop legend, but I don't think she's a music legend just yet. She needs to gain more respect for her body of work first.

She needs to gain more respect? I mean, I understand what you say, but that's not up to her. She has done amazing things since the beginning. It's the GP who seems to be blind and never recognize all of the things she has achieved. They go crazy with every shitty thing Beyonce, or Taylor or Katy do, but they forget that all of them were influenced by Britney Spears. Not Madonna, not Janet, it was Britney who brought back a space in the music industry for female solo acts, when the music scene was ruled by boybands/girlbands (even Beyoncé was in one of them, and would have stayed there if Britney didn't open that door for female solos, or solos in general) and ever since Britney came out, every female act have tried to imitate her, doesn't matter if they're 'country', 'r&b', 'punk/rock', 'hip-hop'. At every awards show they wanna have "their Britney moment" until this day. I think that's enough to consider her a legend. But she has done so much more than that. And even if we count her personal struggles, that puts her even on a higher place, because she was able to survive all of her problems, unlike other legends like Whitney or Michael.

Nothing personal, I get your point, I just, don't agree with it. :xf2:

See, I used to think this, until my first party at my university came around and I went wearing my Britney shirt, and I had countless compliments on it and people would just randomly come up to me and start talking to me about Britney just because of my shirt. It came to my realization then, especially after how many people did that and what people told me, that the GP respects Britney and sees her as a legend and knows her impact, but it's the people that stan for other artists and that drag her and attempt to make her look bad in order for theirs to look better. And it's 15648941x worse on the internet than in real life. But that's just my experience.

thank you for giving proper love for Alanis Morisette, idk if any of you remember the utter radio/Grammy slayage that was Jagged Little Pill. Uninivited is also a flawless Alanis cut.

and this. Once everyone gets to that older slightly more promiscuous age in their life, Britney is their unsung hero. She's a badass, she invented the tights-wearing Starbucks-toting basic bitch without becoming one herself, and everybody ages 18-25 knows at least like 10 of her songs, spanning OIDIA to FF (I've found most people forget Baby happened but remember Oops, and nobody except gym rats know about WB/BJ). She's literally one of us

Completely agreed!

I have known a lot of people in majority from college or adults in general that think about Britney as one big icon in music, as an influential person in society. And that is bigger than stupids fights between fanbases, we don't need to argue with anyone or give receipts about Britney's impact because the proofs are visible for everyone!

Britney the artist wasn't able to "survive" her personal struggles either. Britney the person was, but the artist died.

That said, I'd say it's her image and aesthetics that is frequently replicated and what shits on a lot of artists. Her music still lacks a lot of "artistic merit" that legends like Madonna and MJ have. It also lacks the social consciousness of their discographies.

About the GP's excitement of Beyoncé and Taylor, like I've said in another thread, her brand has been terribly mismanaged by her team the past few years. Part of it is Britney's own fault, but her team is shit at giving her media presence and relevance these days.

I wish I knew people like that :crying3: I think it varies from region to region, and the age of the people and stuff like that :mhm:

So I want to believe it's true, that people have some respect for Britney. I think then, it's the media who always forget about her. I mean, every year when the VMA's are close, everybody starts making articles about Britney, and that's probably the only time of the year when I see some recognition, yet, in recent years she has barely been nominated for an award, and nobody points out that all these artists that try to make their "crazy performances" are just trying to imitate Britney Spears impact, except for the few writers that we know are fans of Britney.

I know they talk about Britney and everything, but what I'm trying to say is that they never recognize her influence or impact in the music itself. Just for instance, when Taylor Swift released her album and stuff, that she was about to break Oops record, I think from all the millions of articles that talked about it, I remember like 2 or something that actually mentioned Britney's record. They would keep talking about Eminem and N Sync, and many other artists, but they barely brought Britney to their comments. It's like if she didn't exist for the past 15 years, when it comes to music. They only remember the snake, or the shaved head, they don't talk about the songs, about the era in music that started with Britney, and that has come til these days with Ariana and all the other wannabe Britneys.

Which makes it such nonsense they put her in Vegas, making her inaccessible to one of her main (and still growing) markets :orangu:

I know, I know. Her image has been damaged forever. And I know her brand hasn't been managed in a good way in the past years.

It just makes me sad that, it seems like a hopeless case. I mean, if she didn't have "the breakdown" would she be a 'legend' by now? What did the world need to see Britney as a true artist, as someone with influence and impact in the music scene and the rest of the artists? :crying3:

It wouldn't matter if she came out with a masterpiece, it seems like she'll never get the recognition, just because "she's only Britney Spears".

Britney contributed herself without realizing i think. The fact that she is so humble and prefers to put other artists above her is one those reasons. On the other hand, performers like lady gaga and beyonce usually exaggerate with their achievements. Actually, I can't even remember a single moment that they praised another artist besides themselves.

Britney should be respected for that and she shouldn't change. Her accomplishments are profound and she doesn't need to show off like others. Ten years later people will wonder why was beyonce, taylor and gaga promoted so much and there won't be any receipts to support the reason they were considered successful...

With Britney they will wonder why she wasn't recognized as much when she has accomplished everything an artist could ever wish...

Exactly! All my friends know Britney before they met me and they know at least 2-3 songs and they do respect her (except for a friend that likes gaga and he keeps telling me that she doesn't sing live, but fuck him), we even did a karaoke with BOMT, Oops and MP and I didn't even organize it. I love my friends <3  :crying1:

Britney is a legend and let the other stupid people say otherwise, she's written history in pop music and whenever people think of pop music they think of Britney, I'm sure of that.
