It hurts me to say this but... yeah, she was at her prime  :crying1: Those were the times when you were back from school, got home, turn on the tv and Britney was EVERYWHERE! It was like music channels equalled "Britney" channels. Her videos playing day and night long :( And now it's like... they just put some news of her and that's it. They don't play Work Bitch or Perfume that much, it sucks  :displeased: The lack of promotion fucked everything, dude  :youpoorthing: It's not what it used to be back in the day... I feel so old  :trollney:

Oh yes... her bubblegum Pop was such a golden era in history. It's honestly so amazing to see how much she and her music have evolved since then. Some classics that come to mind, besides the obvious HUGE hits, are:

  • I Will Be There
  • Thinkin' About You
  • One Kiss From You
  • Anticipating
  • What U See Is What U Get

I know an artist have to evolve, but I wish she never left the bubblegum pop. :crying3: If she wanted to be sexier, tougher, she could have done so without staying away from bubblegum pop. I hate how people always underestimate pop music, especially the bubblegum pop, when we all know, and even the critics know that this is the kind of music that everybody loves, the music that lasts forever, it is universal and doesn't matter how old or young you are, how feminine or manly, rocker, intellectual, you will always end up singing those songs in your head, and dancing, and being happy :thatsfunny:

It doesn't help that there are hardly any true music channels anymore like even MTV is all TV dramas and reality TV so times have definitely changed for this to happen for any artist  :(

I agree with people underestimating Pop music. I hated how Hip-Hop music boomed for a while here in the US and it was hard to hear a good 'ol fashioned Pop song on the radio for quite some time. However, lately everyone is doing Dance/Techno music even Hip-Hop artists are. Also, I feel like while Britney's music is mostly Dance-Pop now, there are still hints of Bubblegum Pop in there. She still makes hits, such as "Hold It Against Me," "3,"  and "Circus" to name a few, that get stuck in people's heads whether they like it or not. ;)

I think the closest to bubblegum that she has done in recent years is Ooh La La, I think it was great :mhm: And yeah, the other songs you name are great as well, because they're Max Martin products. Everything that he does, especially what he does with Britney, is a pop masterpiece :mahhaw:

Ikr? Mtv is also to blame. If they were to show more music videos, like before, maybe everything would be different  :crying1:
