Primeney = Miley's Controversy + Taylor's Fanbase + Rihanna's Sex Appeal

Britney was the entire spotlight in her prime...while todays popstars all share the limelight, never quite equaling her fever pitch. It isnt Miley or Rihanna mania today, simply because there is too much fragmentation and cross pollination in the saturated pop market. 

 

She set the stage for pop as we know it today & was the major player in influence that ushered in waves of popstars in her wake...  Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, Avril, even Paris & Lindsay...then your Miley, Rihanna, Gaga, etc.

 

All huge performers today, including those before and after her success, give props to Britney, just as Britney gave props to Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Prince, & MJ 

 

Pop as we know it is dying though, it is not an advancement in music itself, and the true musicians know this for a long time. I mean there are at least a couple dozen artists who all compete, and they are hungry for sales as they collab and shamelessly promote...never making a name with their actual music. The theatrics of it are not whats going to be immortalized...but the music itself. Pops focus on statistics, competition, and rank plays a role in killing it off

you know, ive never actually noticed a gaga performance for all of her ridiculous outfits designed only for attention.....

unfortunately pop is reducing itself to gimmic and all theatrics

 

if they focused on quality music first, then the situation would be different

 

gimmicks are less valuable than the music itself...

 

all pop is basically singles focused, when it should be album focused...but really it is much more image focused than even single focused, as they choose songs for the videos and presentation rather than the song quality

 

rihanna and shakira should have slayed in that one lesbionic video, but I dont even know the name of the song or what it sounds like

I dont think I even saw that rihanna/shakira video.... I havent been thrilled with Rihanna in recent years.

I saw it because of my penis but I dont remember it, and they really tried to be memorable...not musically though

I feel like we're going to have to wait for another generation of stars before we really see another performer like Britney.

None of the current crop can really dance, and most of them are just up there doing weird stunts for publicity. 

There is no fire in any young artists eyes at the moment.
