Anticonformity Posted January 3, 2015 #1 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I remember this all too well, it was 7 years ago today, 1-3-08 (left pic), that Britney Spears refused to relinquish custody of her sons to her ex-husband's representatives. After police arrived at her house they noted she appeared to be under the influence of a substance and she was hospitalized. Immediately, the press had an obituary all written up. The next day, her visitation rights were suspended at an emergency court hearing, and her ex was given sole physical and legal custody of the children. Then on January 31, 2008, she was committed to the psychiatric ward and put on 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold. In July 2008, she was able to receive visitation with her two little boys. Later that year, she said, "I see my babies and say ... you have to believe in God. How can these two babies be here without there being a God?" She has come SO far and overcame SO much, all while in the public eye. This is one of the many reasons I've looked up to her... before all this, it was her dancing, singing, music, personality etc. but after all this... it's like HOLY SCHNAPPS! If you can go through all of this and have some sanity, (let alone in front of THE WHOLE WORLD), I am so inspired and it gives me hope that one day I will get out of my own mental illness struggles! Being a stan since 2001 I have never seen her happier than she is now and having her release Britney Jean, her best album, truly shows she's happy! #ProudOfBritney 5

killthelights Posted January 3, 2015 #6 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Looking back its just unbelievable all that she overcame and big kudos to her mom and dad stepping up and risking the relationship of their child for the sake of their child's mental and financial stability. I'm glad all is well with the entire fam. But BJ is not her best album lmao

Pokémon Spears Posted January 3, 2015 #8 Report Posted January 3, 2015 That was the bottom of her breakdown. I was really scared after this, I thought a sad end was near But fortunately, she finally got recovered from all this, and as you say, it is so amazing how she was able to survive, and recover. I mean, how can anyone go through all these things that happened to her, and be as good as she is nowadays. She was and still is so brave, and so strong. She deserves the best in this world And as a fan, that's why I appreciate Circus that much. Even though is not my favorite album, and I do recognize is not her best, it's really special because it was like a miracle, like the sign that Britney was still on the road, that we still had lots of things to see from her in the future and that she was still capable of doing amazing hits, videos, tours like she did in the past. Yes, we later had FF, but it had its good things as well. And then having her on X Factor was so incredible. Yes, I know many of you don't like Britney Jean, but I love it, and I only hate the fact that it didn't receive more singles or live performances, and of course Vegas it's been great as well. Who would have told 7 years ago, or who would have believed that we were going to have all these things in the years to come? This was a sad episode in Britney's life, but I think we should celebrate that she was able to go through all this and be back, maybe not "better than ever" under our 'fan terms' but I'm sure she's learned so much and right now she is in such a great place, with herself, with her family and everything and that's all that matters. That, and everything else that's still to come 4

ItsNathanbitch Posted January 3, 2015 #10 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I'm getting emotional just thinking about this Love her so much! She has come such a long way, and I think many fans seem to forget that. I'm so proud of how much she's achieved since then, and am SO glad to finally see her happy. She seems to be in such a great place in her life at the moment, and I'm so thankful for that because I don't think there was anything more heartbreaking than seeing her fall the way she did. 2
TheCharmedTributes1 Posted January 3, 2015 #11 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I'm so proud of our Britney! We should appreciate every single day of her being happy and not complain so much. Her fans are her biggest judges imo. And for all of you who commented about BJ being her best album - everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I respect it and although BJ is not my favorite, it's definitely in the top 4 Britney's albums for me. 2
MadDennis Posted January 3, 2015 #12 Report Posted January 3, 2015 wow, it's been 7 years already! I remember I was devastated for Britney, I felt like she really hit bottom this time and that she might not getting back, but thankfully she proved me wrong. She worked so hard to find herself again and that showed how strong she really is. She's my inspiration Being a stan since 2001 I have never seen her happier than she is now and having her release Britney Jean, her best album, truly shows she's happy!

It's CRAZY to think of what was going thru my mind (wellmost of ours) 7 years ago today... Like what kind of inspiration? I have been thru some SHITTY times and this just shows me that I can (WE ALL CAN) get through the shitty times with God,family, love, friends, support etc... Yall are flawless for ur positive and love here 1

BritneyAddict81 Posted January 4, 2015 #22 Report Posted January 4, 2015 I struggle with depression, anxiety, and ADHD and never got treated for it until my mid-twenties. Bless her heart for whatever she has had to go through. I'm sure there's so much we still don't know. I remember being so scared for her during this period and I was absolutely glued to the television. I am so proud of her for overcoming whatever demons she was battling and it's beautiful to see how far she's come. She's a true inspiration 2

I think many mental illnesses are not prevalent until someone is in their twenties. They might have always been there but never really became apparent until the person is fully grown adult. I was so worried I honestly feared for her life all of 2007, like her dad, I did think one day on the news I was going to see that she died. 1
howwasisupposetoknow Posted January 4, 2015 #25 Report Posted January 4, 2015 This seems so long ago but so fresh, seeing a young woman, who had the world in her hands, not be able to handle it. That's why i don't mind Britney now, she went through hell and back to the point where everyday looks like its fun and peaceful to her. In a documentary, she said all she wanted to do was perform, buy a house, have a family and be happy...it looks like she finally achieved that. Thanks for this post, it's good to remind people that though Circus, Femme Fatale, and Britney Jean showed a different Britney performing wise, we never would have had those last three albums had the media got their way and destroyed her. 1
