Because the songs are flawless and still sound fresh even though it was released in 2007. I remember when I bought the album my mum rolled my eyes at me and thought I was mad for buying a Britney album. I even played it to her and she hated it because she thought it was very "plastic". :o

Actually, blackout was hated by many pretty much throughout 2007. I think a year later, people starting liking it. But yeah, when it came out.. it was criticized to death because it was so "autotuned" not to mention how uncool it was considered to be a britney fan back then. I loved the album though since day 1 esp. Piece of me. <3 Give Britney Jean time.. :) In a year or two, it'll be considered a masterpiece. <3

What? Blackout was loved by fans out the gate and even, the non-fans. :yaknow: It was actually the only thing we can cling to at the time because everything else was shit. Britney was a mess, but she still made good music.

When she performed Gimme More, most people were "Omg what a trainwreck, but damn that song's hot".

as someone stated, when Blackout came out, it was not taken seriously till after Britney got her life together and people started listening it to it realizing that it did influence alot of what would be the current music scene. At that time, no one was using Skrillex nor autotuning their voice to fit a song and music fans and critics realized at the craziest point in her life, Britney created a masterpiece of pop music. She really did in someway start a whole new trend in pop and it became a trend that is still used today. Thats why fan's worship that album and Britney Jean, though good in it's own way, did not have the same effect, it was in someway a step back for what people were expecting from Britney. That's why when people say Britney is not an artist it's not true. Beyonce, Christina Agulera, Lady Gaga could have done the same with the same writers and producers, but Britney gave Blackout that special something that makes it stand out!

Blackout was not a flop tho :frenchy: it was literally lack of promo. Only one goddamn promo: vma and it was considered to be a mess around gp. Billboard changed the rules last minute when blackout was just about to peak at #1. FU Billboard.

and the songs are really really good. It sounds different from any britney's albums before

BJ is a flop because the songs are meh even with little promo

Because Blackout was 100% Britney. It was artistic and innovative and you can listen to any song on that album without skipping and the reason it didn't sell as well was because of her life circumstances. Britney Jean is total opposite. It sounds like a Will.I.Am album ft. Britney, not the other way around. It's not innovative or brings anything new to music or really to Britney either. It didn't sell as well as her other albums because the album was just plain not good.

I remember Blackout was accepted and loved later on. I remember going to sites like imdb and reading stuff online about how autotuned blackout was.

Because Blackout is 7 years old and still sounds modern. Britney Jean was just released a year ago and sounds dated. :bomt:

this tbh :queenflopga:

Because Blackout was the EPITOME of a PERFECT Britney signature sound. It was the most mature, was somewhat controversial, & just had that classic Britney sound. Britney (in my opinion) is the only pop star that can successfully pull off an urban sound as well which is why her fan fav's are songs like Slave, Gimme More, Get Naked, Tik Tik Boom, Break The Ice. They come natural to her. Where as other pop artists have dabbled in R&B/ Hip-hop sounds and although it may be good does not give off the same effect Britney's does or runs as smoothly (IMO).

BJ however was not a favorite because they did not successfully capture the Signature Britney sound! Although it wasn't bad i have to admit listening to the album throughout, I felt as if hardly most of the songs as a whole captured her essence. If you can listen to a song by an artists and clearly imagine another artist sing that song, if not better, than that song doesn't necessarily capture the artist's essence. Name one CLASSIC Britney song that you hear that you can imagine another artist sing..even if it was intended for them. (ex: Slave was intended for Janet & even tho that may be Janet's style, I actually cannot envision her singing Slave 4 U. It was 100% BRITNEY, same for BOMT and TLC). BJ tracks were Will.i.am tracks that tried to push Britney in them and it felt unnatural despite how good some of them were. That's my analysis on it all

This 100%

& also, Blackout had much better production. When I listen to BJ, it's hard to enjoy some songs without thinking of how much they could be improved with better production. And Britney has always stayed true to herself when making music. She has never tried to pull off a sound that wasn't her. I hope with the next album, she either goes back to the more urban sound fans love, OR works with producers who will give her good quality music if she wants to experiment with another sound. But she needs to drop will.i.am.

what if britney herself is changing tho and BJ was more of a reflection of her and her life right now

we know from the work bitch MV she was uncomfortable with all the sex and whipping people and showing herself off because "she's a mom now" (there was an article about this) and BJ was much more toned down sexually... i mean i could be completely wrong but yeah

I feel like Blackout was unexpected as an album, based on what was going on at the time. The music was amazing and no one was doing anything close to that sound at the time. Like others have said, it captured the essence of Britney..it was everything we wanted from Britney and more!

Britney Jean was supposed to be what we've been wanting from britney and got nothing close to that...

It's like when you order a pizza with Pepperoni & Sausage and they give you one without pepperoni! Yeah, you'll eat the pizza, it was good BUT it's nothing like that you were told you'd get...

Blackout has songs with better quality on it and also it was critically acclaimed and everyone seems to love it. :)

I don't know if this is a "trolling" thread or not, but I do think this kind of comparisions are unnecessary. Every other Britney album (or modern pop album in general) fades in a comparision with Blackout imo but that doesn't mean all of them are bad. Not every single album needs to be a masterpiece, they can be just albums full of fun-songs and be just as good (imo that's was FF was).

So please stop giving people even more reason to hate on BJ which is in my opinion one of the most underrated Britney albums in all terms just because of that reason - fans keep bashing it and it's not cool.

But this is just my opinion. :)
