Charli XCX decided to record her singles in Japanese.

Charli’s kicking off music’s next fad – publishing your music in Japanese just for the hell of it. Her team probably gathered research showing she sells well there, so to appease her fans in Japan she recorded her biggest hits “Boom Clap†and “Break The Rules.â€

Are we surprised? She warned Time last year “Sucker†is inspired by Japanese pop, and we thank her for that.

Charli sings a bit in English before switching to Japanese, executing a tone that’s similar to the original. It gives the song a whole new feel (gee, I wonder why?), oddly reviving these songs I had on repeat a few months ago then grew wholesomely tired of. Welp, time to annoy my neighbors again!

Listen to snippets of “Boom Clap†and “Break The Rules†in Japanese:

I'm really impressed with her singing in Japanese

and yes it is her and not Japanese artists covering her songs

:D
