It was on February 16th, 2007 when she shaved her head.

Time sure flies.

I bet she was going through a lot of things, and the media coverage of course didn't help her. And even though she had to deal with many other bad moments after that during the rest of the year and beginning of 2008, she was able to come out of that situation, and fortunately she got better. She's done a lot since then, and I really hope people someday understand the big deal that it means. Most of the people see it like, oh yeah, she's fine again, but there are so many celebrities, and people in general that can't make it through a situation like that.

For me, as a fan, it was really difficult to understand what was going on with her. I was really worried that the worst could come up anytime. And we couldn't do anything for her but just keep supporting her (despite Blackout :P) and having hope that she would get better. And she did, fortunately. And now she's better than ever. Most of the time we try to hide or forget the bad times that we had in the past, but I think it's necessary to look back every once in a while to appreciate where we are today and feel happy, and thankful and notice how blessed we really are :yestbh:

I honesty thought we were gonna lose her and her family thought the same ... She gave me hope and made me believe that miracles do happen and anyone can overcome things ... And you're right these things are really hard to get thru .. Not even Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston could handle it .. I'm so glad tht Britney has the best parents that care for her and stepped up to save her .. She has come a long way and I'm so proud of her .. I just feel that everyone makes fun of her and doesn't give her enough credit , they should be praising her ! She's such an inspiration

I'm in tears right now just talking about it !

I still remember this day, I was in a friend's house to see a movie and before that we decided to check Britney's news (all my friends liked Britney's music back then) and we saw that, I was in shock :umomg: I was so afraid for her back then, especially when she had the meltdown and didn't give her kids to Kevin, I was afraid we're gonna lose her :crying1: Thank God she made it through, she's the strongest person I know, a true inspiration. Looking at these moments and her life now makes me so happy and glad that she's herself again and better than ever :yestbh:

I wish people would stop making a thread about this every year. I mean, i know it's positive thread and everything, and yes it's touching to see how she's finally in a way better place now, she's a strong woman. But as you said it was 8 years ago, move on.

Well, I don't know about previous years, but this time I really felt like doing it because she's been doing great, like extremely well these recent days. Moving on with something doesn't mean we have to forget about it, completely erase it of our memories. When you overcome something you should be able to look back at it without breaking apart. Just like when we remember especial dates like her album's anniversaries or VMA performances or any other achievement, this is a date I can't ignore. I'm sure Britney doesn't even remember when it was, but this is not for her, this is a fansite, and as a fan I think this was one of the hardest and most shocking moments, and I don't think we should feel indifferent.

I mean, I think I get you, and probably it's something I would've said before, or maybe in the next years I'm gonna be saying the same when someone else makes a thread about it. I don't know, for some reason I just felt the need to remember it now.

Agreed , and honestly I feel it's actually good to do this every year because there's a lot of people out there that are going thru things if not the same situation Britney was in and when they see this it's just a reminder that anyone can over come things and become stronger . I even love the quote that the GP did for Britney "If Britney Can Make It thru 2007 then u can make it thru today"

Wow, time really does fly! It's so amazing to see Britney get stronger every single day. The fact that Britney was able to get through these dark times and slowly get happier and healthier as each day goes by is a blessing.

Proud of you Britney! :crying1:

Yeah, I think that other moment in January 2008 was more shocking as you say. :mhm: And I always see that point as the end of her breakdown, because that was like hitting the bottom, but after that she started to recover. And for some reason, most of the people don't remember that.

And I mean, yeah, everybody shaves their heads and probably the media was who magnified this case, because it was Britney. But still, it wasn't just like "oh, I'm gonna shave my head, to try this new, outrageous style and take a photoshoot or shoot a videoclip, or something", it was obvious there was something very eerie in her attitude and the whole situation, like she could have just shaved her head in her house if it was something planned, with a purpose, if she knew all the papparazzi would be capturing the scene and exaggerating everything. And the following days, with the umbrella and stuff, you could definitely see that she wasn't very happy, and that there was something really bad going on with her life.

Maybe it wasn't a big deal, like the media made us believe. But I think it will always stay as the depiction of her breakdown, especially for GP. Even last week a friend told me "oh, but she shaved her head", and I'm just like, yeah, a million years ago. And I'm constantly listening or reading comments on the web about it. It wasn't until last year or so, that the meme "if she could make it through 2007, you can make it too" made me realize that they're finally seeing that she's in a better place nowadays (even if they apparently lived on another planet when Circus, FF, XFactor happened)

It's funny, I never thought she was gonna die, it never even crossed my mind, even she was taken to hospital but the details weren't in yet, I though Kevin attacked her for some reason.

I honestly think she wanted the world to see her do that, she wanted that to go viral or whatever. Like a rebellious cry for help (even if it was to do with a drug test), she was in a bad head space and wasn't thinking rationally although at the time she thought she was i'd assume. She gets her shit ripped for that but if some Indie or rocker chick did that, she'd be seen as awesome or cool. So many people in the world act like they so random and 'rock n roll' but most of those 'rock n roll' people have problems like Brit and wouldn't act like that if they were thinking rationally or even sober. She'll never be forgotten though, she'll be the most remembered of this generation and 2007 defiantly contributes to that. Long live the queen. :Godney:
