I think this song is basically about having the power to make boys beg for your attention and how stupid they are that they can't understand that women just don't care about them because they just want them for their looks, you know what I mean?

Yeah, I agree.

I see this song like some girl power anthem.

When the song's title was announced I thought that it was gonna be another superficial song... :idc1:

I'm glad Britney is sending this message to women to empower them and to men to realize that the joke is really on them  :trollney:

In a way, yes. In other ways, no. No, because being pretty isn't the end-all-be-all of being valuable. Yes, because the lyrics say that a girl doesn't have to care about attention from a guy, just be confident.

But it's just a fun song and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

I agree with this.

I am a guy, and honestly I feel as though feminism is sexist in itself and it caused a divide between the sexes. I'm not a supporter of it, however I do respect women. :mhm:

Feminists make it out like people who don't support them are sexist and support things like unequal pay, cat calling, and such... which is totally NOT true. :tbh:

I like to think that the "All around the world pretty girls" line means that every girl is beautiful in her own way, which of course includes valuing yourself for who you are as a whole and not just for your looks. For me the point of the song is to make people feel confident when they sing along to it and just have fun, because like you said is just a feel-good song, you don't need to pay much attention to the lyrics!

Yeah. I agree. It's a fun, feel-good song. Any girl (or guy) can enjoy it.

Mm I have to disagree with you on that. Feminism is basically about gender equality and I feel like most people who don't support it just don't fully understand what it means. Feminism can't be sexist because sexism discriminates one of the genders in order to make the other more valuable, while feminism, as I said before, is all about equality. You should try to read more about it because I'm sure you'd discover a lot of things you don't know!

Feminism exists for the same reason the Civil Rights movement existed/exits for African-American people. A marginalized group (in this case females) is working to gain full rights as human beings so everyone is treated equally and with respect. It's a really complex issue, but the goal has never been to take away from males, but to help females gain.

not to debate with you, but I have read about it a ton. A lot of my friends and pretty much EVERYONE on my Tumblr supoorts it. If feminism was truly about equality, I would be a supporter. But I've found that the majority of feminists are sexist towards men and use feminism as an excuse to hate them. It is possible for feminists to be sexist, just as it's possible for minorities to be racist.

I don't want to fight with you (I love your posts honestly), I just want to share my opinion. :)

I realize that is what feminism was created as back in the 1800's when women were trying to gain the right to vote, but now it's grown into women using it as an excuse to hate men. I support equal rights between women and men, but honestly a lot of the feminist movement isn't logical or focused on that.

I understand where you're coming from, but I think that's because recently the term has been used incorrectly by people who have no clue what it's about. It's about anti sexism, but I do feel a lot of people use it to push there own sexist agenda against men. It's a shame because a lot of actual "feminist acting" women are almost embarrassed by the label.

Even though I am a man I do consider myself a true feminist and I truly believe in equal right for everyone.

I disagree. But to each their own.

this is EXACTLY correct! I agree 100%. Nothing wrong with equal rights, but people who think they are educated have no idea what true feminism is. Instead, they use it to shame men in a disappointing way.
