I saw a picture on twitter and its from a Katy Perry concert and it shows a screen in a hole on the stage with the lyrics of the song she was singing

I don't think Katy lip syncs because she sounds dreadful she probably just forgets the lyrics easily. When I saw Aerosmith a few years ago, Steve Tyler had a few of those lyrics screens on the main stage and catwalk. But he has more of an excuse as he's old as fuck.

well my point was that it would be more awkward to just stand there with the vocals still going and lips not moving vs, live vocals and no vocals going if they forget the words. did that make it more understandable?

It's called Teleprompter,many artist use it while they're singing not mess up the lyrics(Aerosmith uses it a lot)
