She's still recovering from an ankle injury, but Britney Spears has boyfriend Charlie Ebersol to keep her spirits up while she's on the mend.

Stepping out for a dinner date at Ocean Prime Restaurant in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night, the cute couple "sat next to each other instead of across from each other and held hands on top of the table," says an onlooker.

Spears â€“ wearing a tight gray top and fitted blue jeans â€“ ordered the restaurant's "Chop Chop Salad" and a cup of French onion soup. "She looked amazing," says the onlooker.

After dinner, Spears, 33, and Ebersol, 32, walked out "holding hands and laughing together," says the source. "They looked happy and were very flirty with each other."

In March, the singer told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that her producer boyfriend of eight months made dinner for her on their first date.

"I thought he was really adorable," said Spears. "I said, 'Cook for me!' So he made fish, mushrooms, avocado with a dressing, and tomatoes and mozzarella. It was amazing."
