What's So Great About Alien?

It seems to be a fan favorite, and everyone is saying how they wish it was a single over Perfume, mostly because Perfume flopped miserably. But what's so good about the song itself? I guess you can deem it as a "personal" song, but imo it's boring, lackluster, nothing special, etc. 

 

I don't know why fans put it on the same level as Work Bitch and Hold On Tight, or even Passenger. Alien is one of the weakest songs on Britney Jean, imo.

I still like Alien, and listen to it from time to time. But it's a song that you'd fall asleep listening to, lbr... Soothing, but still boring. Alien's dull. It would have been better if they wrote in a bridge.

Solid and personal lyrics, mature sound, decent vocals, incredible and well-produced instrumental, it's very vibey, chill and moody. One of her best songs ever. (Btw, I'm obviously talking about the demo version)

I just love WOrbit sound - loved his Madonna album and All saints stuff - it just has a like able vibe tbh

The album version killed the song for me completely. If they made the demo version the final version, I'd agree with you.

Because it has a mid pop tempo, and the sad melody is really catchy, and her voice sound great  ... But I've never seen it as a single TBH

i don't think it's single material but it's definitely a great song. i think it's so popular because you can tell the lyrics are deeply personal to britney and what she went through her whole life but especially in 2007. and everyone seems to want songs about that time in her life

It's the same style as And Then We Kiss, imo. I really love Alien

I like it but I hate how they editted the vibrato out of her voice... it makes it sound weird.  The vocal editing is tragic.  It ruins the song.  The instrumental is flawfree, though.

It sounds like the most personal song on the album to me, even more than Perfume. It has a great melody, it's mysterious, peaceful, calm, I like the production despite the ruined vocals and glitch. Definitely second best on the album after Work Bitch.

Also Passenger is the best on the album and Hold On Tight comes next

I think that if they released a radio edit which corrected the glitch, it would have done better than Perfume.
