Not even being delusional but about Pretty Girls, here's my 3 truths:

1.Iggy's verse is just not that good

2.after a few listens the song grows on you but then after a few more listens the song starts to feel played out

3.Britney (and the way she pronounces certain words) is the song's saving grace but the song still feel like it lacks something (maybe the bridge should have been extended with more adlibs or actual lyrics from Britney)

So this is my opinion and I don't speak for the general consensus obviously but my guess is that maybe these reasons (especially number 2) are why the song is underperforming. In short, it's just not that great and radio and the fans who don't live on these boards and twitter probably want a stronger release from Britney in order to feel compelled to play it/request it/etc.

I agreed with this until u said reason 2 could be the reason why its under performing

It went #2 and then fell but everytime there was promo it rose . I honestly feel that the promo was too far apart and thats why it went down

If the promo was close together it would of definitely went #1 & would of got recieved a higher charting

And also Iggy is the worlds hatest person and that could be the problem as well

Brit should of just promoted it more thats all , she could of did snl & kinmel and that would of been great

Cant call it truth tea if its bitter as hell

Pretty Girls as the song in some way is like Britney's Bitch I'm Madonna. They are both kind of light fun songs and they both can disturb the audience in some way or another with being somewhat over the top, be that in one way or another. Don't believe me that Pretty Girls disturbs the audience? I believe that there were some kind of polls and ratings about it.

I agree with all 3 points SO MUCH.

I honestly don't think more promo would have made THAT much of a difference. It would've charted a bit higher, but i still think it would've flopped pretty badly.

The truth is, it just isn't that great of a song. They tried to make a Fancy 2.0 and failed miserably.

Iggy is very hated right now and she really just isn't that great of a rapper. Like you said, the best part of the song is the way Britney pronounces certain words and the way she sings her parts. It reminds me a little bit of how she sang in her older music, which I think was missing from BJ and even most of Femme Fatale. But at the end of the day, the song was very mediocre and Britney's parts aren't enough to save it.

Then they released a music video for it that got a ton of hate. Again, they were trying to do a Fancy 2.0, but what worked about the Fancy music video was that people didn't totally hate Iggy yet when that was released. Also, the Fancy music video was basically a shot-by-shot reenactment of the movie Clueless, which worked well because the 90's are very "in" right now and teens of this generation have seen Clueless. However, the Pretty Girls music video was a reenactment of Earth Girls Are Easy, which very few people in this generation have seen and therefore didn't understand the references and thought the valley girl talking parts were just bad acting.

I'm glad you posted this- I see a lot of people defending Pretty Girls, especially over on Exhale, and thinking it could've been a hit if it had been promoted properly. It isn't a bad song, but it also just isn't very good either. It's not the type of song you find yourself wanting to listen to over and over, and that's what Britney needs.

My thing with the "more promo" people is what more promo do you want? For her to perform it again? Not happening, maybe she'll add it to POM but come on now. It's a throw away song, it's not that serious and it's not worth the effort it would take to put that on. It's not even a lead single for an album so talk shows and such would make no sense. So yeah the song is what it is, no miracles here.

Iggy's verse is not that bad (it would be better in Britney's voice)

I just think the chorus isn't strong enough. Well, it's weird because now I'm used to it, but I remember at the beginning I was like what is this? However I felt the same with Work Bitch's chorus. But now I can't imagine any other chorus to fit this song, so I don't know. People just weren't here for that. If it was released last year along with Fancy, and before Iggy was hated that much, it would've made more sense and probably it would've done better.

I do think that some more promo would've helped the song, specially during the first week and after the BBMA's when everything stopped, but I also think that the main reason it flopped was Iggy and how much she's hated, because the general public is extremely biased. That same song performed by any other "it" artist would've done much better, but just because Britney and Iggy did it people said it was bad. I know PG is not a musical masterpiece, but neither are many songs that top the charts, so that's not the main problem.

Iggy's verse is the best part of the song imo

even though I don't like this song at all, it's true - her part was actually the best

i agree, and Im not even a fan of her but i give credit where it's due

if britney's voice wasn't so edited on the song, it would have been a less terrible song

the song was just made for someone like fifth harmony or even miley

Wow! Some of you guys seriously think that was a good verse from Iggy? In terms of rap verses, its pretty forgettable. It's short and all she does is basically rhyme her name. When that part comes on I'm so bored with it and it does slow the momentum of the song down unnecessarily.

The main reas on the song isn't doing well isn't Iggy and how much she's not like BTW because there are other people who are more hated than her and they manage to have songs top the charts---Chris Brown anyone? It's the song really, it's not that good.

The single cruelly lacked promotion.
