I just want everyone to think for a minute and to consider what if this is Britney testing the waters?

Tom's Diner and Pretty Girls are two totally different sounds and tones from Brit this year. also, promo was not just different, but more upbeat and fun, plus we got a long awaited Britney award show performance.

We know album nine is happening, but could this all be Britney testing not what sound she should try next, but also what promo techniques work and get peoples attention.

I mean, lbr, Britney has tried some new stuff in terms of promo with PG and though not on a grand scale, it was different.

And she already got the public's reaction concerning song material. Stuff like PG out and stuff like TD in.

I don't want to get hopes high but it's a thought!

I dont get why youre doing comparisons between "Tom's Diner" & "Pretty Girls"

"Toms Diner" is Giorgio's sound that came from his album not Britneys . It was just a collab for his album

If Tom's Diner was Britney's song now that would be a different story, that would mean that she is testing out sounds

I just feel that you're over thinking it

hmmm why britney was in NYC ? maybe for B9..

She never went to NYC, she was in Louisiana.

Honestly i don't think so. Tom's diner has nothing to do with her next album, it's Giorgio song, it's HIS sound. And the song isn't even a single so how would it be a test?

I also don't see how promo was upbeat and fun, to me it was boring and really not enough. She didn't even make tv interview, nothing. The "performance" was just to promote Vegas.. I don't see how it is different, again it's just about Vegas, Vegas and Vegas.

I don't think she planned this, like to happen in this way. I think PG and TD just happened as two different, separated things.

I still believe she doesn't even picture those songs as part of the B9 project, like maybe she assumes like well, PG was already released, the most logical thing is that it'll eventually belong to B9, but I really think by the time she has enough songs to start giving shape to the ninth album, PG will be totally out of context, or you know, like something completely unrelated to this project, it's gonna feel old by then. At least that's what I think, unless she has recorded more songs than what we know.

My point is, I don't think she's testing anything, I actually doubt she/they are following the feedback from the fans, or the sales or the critiques. It would be the most logical, but with Britney's team we can never expect them to follow any logic. If she wanted to go towards the PG direction or TD direction or both, or something else, I think she'll do it, and she was going to do it, even before knowing if the fans or critics would like it.

I'm actually expecting to hear something with a lot of diversity, like any good Britney Spears album, especially since she's apparently working with a lot of different producers/writers, and if she's taking her time to record it, her ideas, her moods will be different throughout that period of time.

PG happened because she wanted that videoclip, even before they even had a song. TD happened because she wanted to cover it. Now, that's a very interesting story that I would like to hear from Britney, seriously, in her next interview they have to ask her about it. We've only heard Giorgio's version, but he seems pretty confused about how everything happened, but in one interview he kinda said Britney was covering various songs, and asked him to produce Tom's Diner, implying she had more. So, is she doing more covers besides it for B9? Or she's recording them just to see if she likes one of them at the end, but not necessarily because she's doing a covers album? And most importantly, did she really want Tom's Diner to be part of Giorgio's album in the first place or she just wanted him to produce the song for her album, but at the end just gave it to Moroder?

So who knows what's really happening in their plans, if they really have them. But I don't know, for some reason I think PG and TD are both unique songs that just happened without planning, and I actually would be surprised if we have at least one more song that resembles any of those in B9. As anything with Britney, we'll have to wait and see...

PG and TD are kind of like 3 and Ooh La La, they're kind of just there and got video treatments. If anything, maybe she was testing the producers to see if she worked well with them so she can bring them in for B9 but I don't think her team is using these songs to test the public's reception of her.
