Im not trying to start illumantney back up because it's not 2011 but for years after "Hold it Against Me" came out I rewatch it and get a whole different take on it. It's very weird in an artistic way and I was wondering if maybe Brit was trying to send us a message once again through this video , like she did with "Mona Lisa" and "Rebellion".

I mean the white dress of innocence to the sexy black outfit.

And the paint flying all over here and then the Battle of the Britney's. I'm like seeing something in it apart from the song and I know I seen it before but it never hit me until re watching it and also I saw the creepy face in that flashes for like less then a second in 2:25 and got legit scared.

Not trying to be negative at all, that's why I left exhale I just want to know what you guys I interpret it as and if you think she was trying to convey a personal message about her life to us.

k let me start

HIAM , the concept of that song is the journey of the pop princess From the Beginning till now , the white represents her royalty as a princess and the smile , is the smile that shows everyone she wasn't not okay back then

This is imo , but I honestly think it represents the downfall and rise of Britney

In the beginning of the video she rises to the top (represents her rise to stardom & the past mv's shown in the video represent that as well)

The dancers underneath her dress represent the demons shes been battling (not literal demons but personal things going on around her)

Notice that creepy fake smile? That creepy smile represents pain. She always hides her pain underneath a smile so everyone will think shes happy.

Then life finally takes its toll on Britney & she finally explodes (the squirting paint represents that) and then she falls

Then Britney battles herself (represents wanting to get rid of the old her and have a fresh start at life) and the new britney wins. Then she rises and comes back stronger and better than ever

Wow great you all! My interprarion is that she went through something dark. It started out light but then she lost it like her innocence in a way. I'm still not completely sure because there's so many things to see and interpret

I think the white dress represents innocence. The paint building up is the gradual loss of innoncense and a build up of tension. The rise represents that buildup as well. The explosion of the paint is the release of anger and all negativty. The fact that she remains on the floor covered in paint means she's dealing with the consequences and that she's down but not out because she doesn't lay there lifeless. Meanwhile the Britney who dances on the stage represents her as an entertainer (she's wearing white but there's a split in her persona because the outfit is lined with bullets and other metals, so like hard and soft, fire and ice, innoncense and experience). The two Britneys are her inner demons vs. her positivity, neither side wins so it's like she's going to remain the same. Her screaming at circle of mics is like her talking to the media but no one truly hears and she's losing it. The joker smile is how she has to mask her sadness behind a smile and it looks painful and forced because she hurts still.

So much going on. It's honestly her most important video behind Toxic and Everytime. It actually might be more important than they are because of all the imagery.
