Really Interesting Article About 'taking Britney Jean Personally'

Very interesting read, thank you for posting!

I guess I could agree with their comment at the end, however I still think although yes britney has commented on her personal life enough through Baby and Blackout, I think she could release a song showing how she got over the breakdown, something like Everyday. But again as the article says, she has already given us enough :)

I completely, 100% agree with everything in this article. Britney's music from the start has been fun bop hits that always related back to her and her life at the time. Britney Jean was no different in my opinion and I found most of the songs very personal. Alien, perfume, til it's gone, don't cry, hold on tight, brightest morning star and so on.

As for whether I would like to see a “personal†album from Britney… for me, the parts of Britney’s life story that needed telling have already been told between …Baby One More Time and Blackout. I think anything that reflects her life now would be pretty boring – hello, ‘Chillin With You’ anyone? – and I guess I’m comfortable in not being part of the crowd demanding “gimme gimme moreâ€. Britney Spears has given quite enough.

The only songs on Britney Jean that aren't personal are Body Ache and Tik Tik Boom. Even It Should Be Easy sounds personal. Britney talking about her love and how passionate she is.

I dont understand all the hate towards Britney Jean. Sure, it might sound like cheap production to some (not me honestly, I've listened to the album with my headphones and paid special attention to details and it's really good production), but it still is a great album with SO many bops and gems.

It's a great album! It's mostly just those few loud, crude, and attention seeking fans that make things seem much worse. It's a disaster for them when Britney doesn't live up to their imaginations.

I'm glad that someone who really knows how to write was able to express exactly what I've always thought.

Her early albums always reflected the different moments of her life, even if she didn't wrote the songs. Even though she kept telling songs like Not a Girl were written for the movie, you could easily tell it fit her perfectly in that moment of her life or career.

I think the only part I disagree with is about Britney Jean not being personal. Again, I doubt she really wrote in all of the songs, but you can easily see they perfectly fir her current life. Even Passenger who's about a couple, can be interpreted as her surrendering to the conservatorship (for those who love dark theories). And even Circus had, well, Circus and My Baby.

Femme Fatale might not be personal, because it was intended to be just a dance, fun record, but I think it's fine. I don't need Britney to get vulnerable in order to consider her songs good. I need her to put her input and creativity into a song that tells us a story, even if it doesn't have anything to do with her life, even if it's about a fictional character. I find it so much more artistic when an artist is able to touch our feelings without having to resort to their own experiences. That means they understand what other people goes through in their lives, and that they're creative enough to create a great story. And Britney is that creative person.

I mean, she literally came up with the idea of almost all of her videoclips. If she's not a professional songwriter, she should go with the writers she prefers, and tell them her ideas, so they can write songs about what Britney wants to sing (maybe she does it already, I really hope so) instead of just taking rejected tracks from other artists. Tracks that maybe she likes, but why wait til this perfect song falls from the sky, when she could ask someone to make her just as she wants?

Perfectly said and very sympathetic to Britney. I agree with just about everything and honestly guys Britney Jean was not that bad, sure it's no ITZ or BO but it is good. There are strong lyrics throughout and the songs are catchy enough. Not smash hit catchy but I honestly don't think she wants that right now. I think she just wants to take it easy and rightfully so. Those who are stuck on this 2000-2004 image of her need to let it go and realize that that version of her is no longer around and this is who she is now, maybe in 10 years she'll be different but the point is she's been personal this whole time without being overtly open about but now she may just want to be closed off for a bit.

I don't even know how a song like that would work. Closest thing I can think of MJ's "Stranger in Moscow" but even that song didn't fully explain how he felt during his scandals. We can imagine that she understands how the breakdown felt to her, she knows what her doctors are saying about it, she knows how her family and friends felt and she understands how the media potrayed it but what exactly would you imagine she'd say? And remember it would have to be written down as a song so however she feels would be limited just because it's a song. I think she would be better served explaining all of that in an interview where you could get a full quote. She probably won't do that until some time in the future. And honestly I don't think she owes us an explanation because it's not our life so I feel as long as she's ok, she feels healthy and she loves herself then it's all that should matter to fans. By the way, not attacking you or anything. Just thinking aloud and then writing it down. If she could put all of that in a song it would literally be a huge testimant to her and her career.
