And don't say because she promoted it more, because I know the era is the reason most of you Circustards like the album, not because of the music. :gloria:

Circus, IUSA, Radar, etc are NOT personal! Meanwhile every song from Britney Jean excluding TTB is personal.

I´m sorry but circus IS personal, it talks abaout her as a performer, and she said it in many interviews aswell as that she loved the

concept of the circus cause "you are always on the edge on your seat, and I want to bring that sense to my show" baby was written by

her and its about her children, Kill the lights its about her and the media, womanizer is totally against kevin federline saying he was a

womanizer aswell as shatered glass that talks about her break up with him. If u seek amy speaks about how everyone criticises her but

They actually all wanna FUCK HER, love me, hate me, say what you want about me, but all of the boys and... etc and in the MV at the

end you see the press and how they want her to be supposly. She covered out from under cause she loved the song, and idk about

the rest but circus is a really personal album in my opinon  :crying5:

ifkr :sew: the only songs i could count as personal there would be my baby, mannequin, womanizer(to some extent) and maybe circus. if u seek amy can be counted too but it's more on how the public and the media sees her so it's not really "personal" per se. meanwhile she discusses what she feels and thinks about in britney jean. ttb can be counted too cause as she said, she loves good sex, and she's probably wild in bed so yeah :sew:

I wasn't talking about sales, I was talking about promotion.

You only don't like BJ because she didn't perform for it. Don't even try to deny it.

I don't listen to it since it came out  :)

not my music taste tbh

it's not exhale, stop this drama. everyone has their own opinion, respect that.

Not everybody feels the same way about it that you do tbh :dontlike:

Its just not my cup of tea...

A song like Out From Under should have been really personal to Britney, but you can tell from the way she sings it - very cold and emotionless - that it didn't really mean anything to her. She put a lot of heart and soul into her delivery on BJ which is missing from both Circus and FF.

There was a lot of Biography on Circus. Biography about the time some fans want to know about. They didn't realize it at the time Circus was new because it was the current album. Britney Jean is a mental and spiritual album about where she was at the time she was working on it.

But imo the only songs on Britney Jean that isn't personal are the two sex songs.

It was her "comeback" she talks about the papz, k-fed, love, and her as a performer. The lyrics to circus>>> work bxxch

I think Circus and Britney Jean are actually her two most personal albums in terms of content. Personal songs highlighted in blue. Tracks on the cusp of maybe being personal will be highlighted in yellow.

I'm going to exclude love songs that are just too general and probably just included to appeal to the GP. There are very obvious love songs that do reference her actual life so those will count as personal. But if we went by all love songs then BOMT and OOPS would be very "personal" but we obviously know those two albums were written to appeal to teen girls.

I'm only going to discuss the standard version of Circus because the 19 track version has many songs that are not personal at all or really stick with the Circus theme.

Circus

The Circus album takes turns for the first 7 songs in mentioning Britney's love life then followed with something about her life as a celebrity.

1. Womanizer

2. Circus

3. Out From Under

4. Kill the Lights

5. Shattered Glass

6. If U Seek Amy

7. Unusual You

8. Blur

9. Mmm Papi

10. Mannequin

11. Lace and Leather

12. My Baby

1. Womanizer

Womanizer has been said to be a reference to K-Fed and his Womanizing ways. It is rumored that this is the reason Brit filed for divorce. So maybe this song is personal?

2. Circus

Obviously about the media Circus surrounding her life. This album as a whole is more personal in terms of she speaks more about her life as a pop star whereas Britney Jean talks more about her private/love life. But both albums feature both aspects. Circus recounts that all eyes are always on her and she is the center of media scrutiny. It is also somewhat biographical etc. I think this is a pretty obvious explanation.

3. Out From Under

I know love songs are hard to categorize but Out From Under does specifically reference coming "out from under" after a break up and I know she has had a number a break up songs but this one just seems valid because it is the first time she was properly able to speak about the K-Fed split. It's a pretty basic coming out from a break up song and not wanting to dwell in the past. I would label this one personal but you can be the judge. This song somewhat reminds me of Don't Cry.

4. Kill the Lights

Another song about the media frenzy that was her life during this period and shortly before. Britney uses a potential love interest to get her point across about the paparazzi. I think the meaning behind this song is pretty blatant. Yes it references sex but it's most definitely about the paparazzi and them trying to cash in on her.

5. Shattered Glass

Another love song but the fact that it does reference lyrics in Everytime definitely calls it to my attention. This song also seems to be referencing a specific someone from Britney's life. Maybe she's mentioning Justin once again and now that she's on the other side of the break-up she feels a little differently in this followup to Everytime. Otherwise probably another song about K-Fed or maybe even Adnan.

6. If U Seek Amy

Yet another song about the media frenzy that is Britney's life. This time she references how everyone is begging to fuck her because she is the center of attention frankly. Everyone still wants a piece of her. She also takes a jab at the insane scrutiny she has received her whole life for being sexualized and banks on this with the title If U Seek Amy.

7. Unusual You

This song is thought to definitely reference her new blossoming relationship with Jason Trawick. She revels in the fact that it's strange how he hasn't yet broken her heart. This is somewhat like the "Passenger" of this album I feel. In terms of referencing her newest love interest after throwing the old one under the bus the rest of the album.

12. My Baby

The closer of the album references her baby. Personal for very obvious reasons.

Britney Jean

Britney Jean was touted as being personal from its inception. As much as everyone loves to rag on it for not being personal. It actually is one of if not her most personal album.

1. Alien

2. Work B**ch

3. Perfume

4. It Should Be Easy (feat. will.i.am)

5. Tik Tik Boom (feat. T.I.)

6. Body Ache

7. Til It's Gone

8. Passenger

9. Chillin' With You (feat. Jamie Lynn)

10. Don't Cry

11. Brightest Morning Star

12. Hold On Tight

13. Now That I Found You

1. Alien

Obvious references to her life as a celebrity and not feeling at home. This song is rumored/thought to mention her breakdown and how she felt during the period of her life when everything was just a media frenzy. It could be somewhat implied that she is harking back to her former self and telling her that she is not alone #notalonenotalonenotalone.

2. Work B**ch

Does not have much of a deep meaning but it definitely is personal in terms of Britney Spears. She regularly chants about her hard work throughout the years. Yes it's all meant to be in good fun but if you can't look past the hard beats and see that this song is very biographical you're just being a bit pessimistic. If you want all the nice things it is true you do have to "work bitch".

3. Perfume

Yes this is just a somewhat generic love song. But we all know it references Jason's unfaithfulness or at least the insecurities Britney had during that relationship. Sia definitely composed the song and gave it to Britney but rumor has it while Sia wrote the music Britney wrote much of the lyrics.

7. Til It's Gone

I don't really consider this song personal because it is so broad in its meaning, but it could also be a direct call out to the feelings she had after her breakup with Jason. You be the judge.

8. Passenger

This song is popularly considered to be about David Lucado. Britney is finally learning to let go of control and let her partner lead the way. She's been so paranoid in the past that now she deserves to just sit back and relax and learn to let others do things for her. Another somewhat darker meaning is her acceptance and her coming to terms with the conservatorship. That's somewhat of a stretch but it's fun to think about and also quite sad.

9. Chillin' With You

This is personal for obvious reasons. It features her sister, it talks about her sister and her spending time together. 'Nuff said.

10. Don't Cry

This song is another somewhat generic love song but we all know it's about Jason and the heartbreak she felt after that relationship was over. This song is also thought to be somewhat of a goodbye to the fans. Definitely gives it a lot more depth!

11. Brightest Morning Star

Dr. Luke has gone on record saying this song is about her boys while Sia has said it's a song about her faith. Either way both things are deeply personal.

12. Hold On Tight

This song could be about David. But I have a hard time thinking they were close enough at this point in time for it to be about him. It does sound deeply personal about someone though. So you be the judge.

13. Now That I Found You

This could also be about David since she did just find him around the writing and recording of this song. So I'm leaning towards personal but I'll leave it in the middle ground for now.

I hope this clears up any confusion on how personal each of these albums are. If you want anymore in depth analysis on any other albums in terms of being "personal" I'll be happy to oblige.
