Back in 2007 Timbaland said in an interview that him and Justin would like to work with Britney on her comeback album (Blackout). Instead, Britney decided to work with the producers less popular prodigy, Danja. Timbland later said that Britney had squashed her chances of ever working with the duo, saying she knows what she needs to apologize for. Could 'Give It to Me' possibly be referencing that? What do you think?

[Timbaland]

When Timbo is in the party, everybody put up they hands

I get a half a mil' for my beats, you get a couple gra-an-and

Never gonna see the day that I ain't got the upper hand

I'm respected from Californ-I-A, way down to Japan

I'm a real producer and you just a piano man

Your songs don't top the charts, I heard 'em, I'm not a fa-an-an

Niggas talkin' greasy, I'm the one that gave them they chance

Somebody need to tell them that they can't do it like I can

[Justin Timberlake]

Could you speak up and stop mu-mumbling, I don't think you came in clear

When you're sittin' on the top, it's hard to hear you from way up here

I saw you tryin' to act cute on TV, "Just let me clear the air..."

We missed you on the charts last week, damn, that's right you wasn't there

If se-sexy never left, then why's everybody on my shi-it-it

Don't hate on me just because you didn't come up with it

So if you see us in the club, go on and walk the other way

Cause our run will never be over, not at least until we say

No, but I have a feeling "4 minutes" could have been what they wanted to offer Britney.. But Gimme More came first and sounded way better, and THEN came 4 minutes and sounded exactly like GM in some ways.. Danja stole the best ideas from Timbaland and gave to Blackout  :smokeney:

I found the Wikipedia page on this and its two comments down.

No Tim's diss was to Scott Storch and Justin's diss was to Prince. Even Christina Aguilera had an issue with Scott Storch, that's why she has a song on Back to Basics called F.U.S.S (aka fuck you Scott Storch). Justin's "if sexy never left then why is everybody on my shit and we missed you on the charts last week that's right you wasn't there and stop mumbling", etc is in response to a rant Prince made about him and his success during a performance way back when. He basically was saying JT was getting all this love for doing something he already did and that it wasn't new. So JT was upset by that and they wrote this diss. Also Nelly Furtado's verse is supposed to be directed at Fergie.

Tim basically alluded to Britney ditching them in the studio and that's why he feels she owes him an apology. He never said anything directly about her on a record but he did in an interview around the time she was in the midst of the chaos of 06-07 but before she was committed. I'm sure at the time he and the rest of them just thought Britney was only acting out and didn't realize how serious the issue was at the time. I hope he's changed his mind since. Closest thing to Britney diss was Missy's line on "Bounce" where she goes "like Britney Spears I wear no drawers".

no, not at all... even because this song was recorded in 2006 (and released in early 2007) so one year before what Timbaland said about "Blackout"...

Nelly Furtado is talking about Fergie, Timbaland about Scott Storch and Justin about Janet Jackson & Prince

So glad she worked with Danja tbh! Gimme more <33333 Break The Ice <33333

The music she created with Danja was so much better than the generic Timbaland sounds back then tbh  :crying1:
