I think, unlike a lot of other celebrities, she is not vain and egotistical so it is uncomfortable sometimes. I read a quote from Emma Watson where she said anytime she gets recognized for her acting at an award show or whatever she immediately feels uncomfortable. Not that she's "over it" or anything but because she doesn't see herself as this larger than life person.

I agree! They treat her as a shadow of her old self. Her career until 2004 was of course the most successful (nobody can doubt that) but that was only half the way until today. People don't recognize her current work and that probably is very annoying.

Remember that when buzzfeed praised her performance in POM she thanked them and she even took their advice (possibly) and changed her pants!!!

And I'm sure she and her team are sitting thinking "but what about Womanizer, what about Circus, does anyone want to talk about Til the World Ends, Scream & Shout? Work Bitch???

And I would be super frustrated with this if I was her but it's a tricky situation. When she's releasing good shit but she's laying low because I suspect she just has to for her sanity, people are not going to care about this as much as they did BOMT or Toxic. You have to be top of mind unfortunately. Hopefully her team and her will figure out a proper strategy to put her back at the top where she belongs while still giving her a sense the calm that she deserves.

Britney doesn't see herself the way we see her. She's just a normal person with a not so normal job, so having strangers come up to her and pour their hearts out to her probably makes her feel awkward.
