"Hey Britney, you say you wanna lose control

Come over here I got somethin' to show ya

Sexy lady, I'd rather see you bare your soul

If you think you're so hot, better show me what you got

All my people in the crowd, let me see you dance

C'mon Britney lose control, watch you take it down"

-Madonna in Me Against The Music

She started baring her soul in those letters of truth...etc. And when Britney was trying to be in control of her life, she lost control of her life.

Just some food for thought when I was listening to it tonight.

Thoughts?

Ok OKAY maybe i read into it a little much, but it was odd timing. I think it was a point in Britney's life that she had to show more of her soul, and Madonna knew that. The sex appeal was going to only take Britney so far and Madonna knew that. And I think Madonna could see how controlled Britney's career was. so her advice behind the scenes and in the song was "lose control" and "I wanna see you bare your soul". Like - show more of who you are to the world. And Britney did both of those things.

I think it's def possible she saw what britney was going through at the time. I think she also knew britney would express every answer she had to her questions of being ready for pop royalty

See!! That's why I like madonna. She always saw britney for what she'd become and always supported her

I always interpreted her lines as a bit of read with some slight shade thrown in, but not mean spirited.  At the time Britney was garnering the Madonna comparisons majorly, but it was mainly due to her sex symbol status.   Madonna's lines reads like a teacher telling her student to prove her worth through her artistry, not just strip teases.  There's no doubt Madonna is fan of her's and always has been tho.
