I've read lots of fans think Lucky was Britney's first cry of help regarding fame and happyness but I don't really see it.

It was 2000. Britney was releasing her second album, travelling around the world promoting, she was already considered the Pop Princess, literally the whole world loved her (the press and part of the GP criticism hadn't started yet), she was dating Justin, she was getting ready to go on her first world tour.. I don't see how Lucky was a cry for help. I also think I read somewhere Lucky was originally written for someone else but then she kept it.

I think it was released as a single because the song is nice and represents the album very well.

What do you think??

PS: I won't miss a golden oportunity to post flawless gifs

Hmmm, no. She didn't even write the song. Max Martin and Rami did. And honestly, the story in that song could be about any celebrity. It was just a unfortunate coincidence. And thaaaanks for those gifs, the video is so underrated  ;)

i don't think it was about her or a cry for help she didn't write it. I doubt she would have even had the time to write a song she was that busy.i think it is based on tragic figures such as marlin Monroe.

I don't think it was a cry for help, but your post is exactly why some people think that. She was on top of the world and should be happy but deep down wasn't - the meaning of lucky. But also to the commenter above she doesn't have to write a song for it to have meaning to her, I hate that assumption

How the heck was it a cry for help if she was just a year into her career ? Lmao

She even gave an interview on how she loved life and didnt get why other celebs complain about their life especially because they have it all..

I will say tho, her music definitely does tell her future .. Lucky, everytime, mona lisa .. Etc

Noooooo - she didn't start to feel jaded until after her breakup with JT

OMG the heathers! I loved that movie!!

As for Lucky - it definitely was not a song about herself that early in her career - if but anything - the Britney album was really more her cry for freedom and help...

You know what? Kinda. not a cry for help but maybe written with her in mind. It's not impossible things could've got back to Max or maybe something could've happen in the studio at some point, or maybe she looked sad. I only say this because when I heard Overprotected, I noticed guessed she was talking about her life, and linked it with lucky, plus she was going on about how much she loved I'm not a girl (even though it's a coming of age song) at the time. She did the same with Brave new girl on In the Zone, she didn't write those either. Then we got Mona Lisa and Rebellion which she did pen.
