Britney Jean is considered a flop because it's an album from a huge pop star like Britney.

You say Selena is basic but you take the time to compare her to legends like Britney huh  :queenflopga: melhore miga

Everyone here and online compares them... Selena is a pop star, so of course there will be comparisons. I'm glad you admit she's not a huge pop star though, she's basic as white bread and her music is shit, for the most part (LYLALS is still a bop.) I can't at some people calling Revival her ITZ. She might not even crack 90,000 in actual album sales. She tried so hard to make this her biggest era, and it's a total bore.

My point is just that none of these new crop of "pop stars" hold a candle to what we had back in the day. Most artists album sales decline as time goes on, so if this is Selena's peak... well, #PoorDat  :bomt:

You seriously need to chill right now. Ofc she's not a huge pop star, nobody said she was! She's just a young artist doing what she loves,i don't get why so much hate just because she's being compared to Britney. If some people think Revival is her In The Zone what's the problem ? They are all entitled to their opinion. And i guess they are talking about quality and not sales which is different.

Revival will probably sell 1 million copies worldwide but that's not surprising because she always had a huge decline in album sales. She's doing good with her singles which is great.

Album sales don't count today as they used to before.

I agree that this new pop industry is boring as fuck. But i disagree with you when you say this is Selena's peak, she's doing very well with her singles (better than in her last era).

Even Janet's new album sold more than Selma's. Janet literally didn't speak to the press once and her single was like top 50. Ha impact.

I wonder why Janet is avoiding the press!

Sis,those numbers you read on the net about her album selling 80k-90k on it's first week are just estimations.

For example Billboard estimations for Revival first week sales are 110k and it doesn't mean they are right too.

Janet's Unbreakable sold 109,000 in pure album sales and 116,000 equivalent albums. Yes, Salsa's numbers are still estimates, but even if she matches Janet - that's a huge disappointment. She had a huge lead single and lots of promo. The GP just ain't interested in hearing ha album, and there are no other hits to release as singles.

Her album is strong, I think she knew she didn't really need to do anything. There was enough hype just from her returning, and the fact that the album got nothing but amazing reviews & was compared to her best work certainly helped. Her tour is getting great reviews too.

Janet's new album is amazing really and people can say what they want about the sales but she delivered a quality album and that's what I really only care about, good quality music.

Her sales are amazing considering:

1) Her age

2) The time since her last album

3) 0 promo and no big singles

She had no radio support, no big tracks - and yet she's still trouncing today's "hot" artists. Janet slayed effortlessly tbh  :bomt:

Well actually I agree, but it doesn't prove much (apart from the fact the Selena is flopping..)

Halsey's new album (and most of you probably have no idea who she is) - 115k first week

The Weeknd's - 412k

Lana's - 115k

Drake's - 375k

Ariana's - 169k

So Britney's 120k first week is a big disappointment since she's such a big star... But I kinda understand cause BJ is shitty.

:gloria: sis Revival was released 5 days ago that's why the numbers you can read online are still estimations...

But when you compare Brady Joad's sales to those acts, you have to also consider that Britney has been around for 15 years. She's not the cool, fun, funky, new thing anymore. She also did literally zero promo or push for the single + album, and had no major hits attached to the record :4music:

Those artists are all in or around their prime, and most of them (The Weekend, Areola) had huge singles. Lama had a lot of buzz, Drake is one of the biggest acts in music and has constant radio play... Brine Joan could have been a much bigger flop tbh. Luckily it wasn't a great album so I wasn't sad to see it flop... but if Godney puts in work and wants another smasha, she can easily do it. EASILY  :smokeney:

But Halsey doesn't have any hits and nobody knows her tbh. Lana didn't do any promo either and her lead single peaked at #52 on billboard hot 100. i bet that most people who bought BJ are her old fans. Next album (even if it's good) won't sell even the 100k if she doesn't do any promo.

A lot of acts sell around 100,000 without any hits - rock bands, indie, r&b, etc. Because they have loyal fanbases. Even many of Britney's core fans were turned off by Brady Jetson because a) she did no promo and b) the music just wasn't good. Pop acts rely on the GP because they're expected to sell more than a rock band, but when the GP doesn't know the album exists, it can't sell. If Britney puts in the work, she can have another smasha.
