Ant 'Opz' Posted October 25, 2015 #4 Report Posted October 25, 2015 This album is what made me a stan, it encouraged me to listen to music that wasn't just R&B. I love so many pop songs now, plus obvs all Britney's earlier work. Back then, although I liked some pop songs, I would just disregard them as not my kinda thing, I only really liked R&B, and I was ashamed to like any pop song. But when Gimme More came out, I loved it so much! I didn't care and Britney just instantly got my support. I realised I liked pop, also opened me up to listen to other genres.....LOVE house music now. Such a edgy, dark, fierce album.......Blackout is iconic. 1
Alejandro93 Posted October 25, 2015 #6 Report Posted October 25, 2015 My inner slut comes out to this album! It deserves it own Hollywood Star 3
MakeMySugarFall Posted October 26, 2015 #7 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Ngl when this album first came out, I didn't appreciate it. In fact, it scared the shit out of me. I have been a Britney fan since her BOMT debut and I was so used to innocent-ney, even though she had been slowly changing that image. I felt like this album slapped me in the face and I wasn't sure what to do. I now realize that's exactly what she was going for and the album is still brilliant, but the new sound combined with watching her slowly meltdown was a very weird, scary time period. Then I got drunk at a party one night and Gimme More came on. I don't think I've ever danced that much in my life. I had just gotten dumped (this was a good thing - I didn't realize how toxic it was) and that song just moved me for some reason. I listened to the entire Blackout album the next day. Still didn't like it right off the back, but now I listen to it probably once a week. Happy birthday Blackout, indeed. This album was life-altering for me.
btmyhbrit99 Posted October 26, 2015 #9 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Hands down favorite album from her. I just wonder what would have been if she wasn't going through so much at the time of its release. And I'm hoping we get a taste of the sound and energy of Blackout on B9.
