I read a news article on it and the Jouranalist reckoned it was because she is controversial, heavily scrutinised and daring... Something that can be related?? Idk but why isn't Beyonce or Riri (the lessers)? to be honest I just wanted other peoples opinions

She gained a lot of sympathy by them in 2007/08 imo. The confidence(pre 2007) and dynamism on stage and her colorful/spectacular shows draws them in even more. 2

I would add: her music her performances Britney is the definition of pop and most gay people listen to mainstream pop and they are either fans of Madonna or Britney...A minority of them are fans of Christina, Katy, Miley etc...
