CIRCUS Posted June 9, 2014 #76 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Yeah, where it made no impact whatsoever. Idk what you're talking about, but it's still overrated as fuck. lmao Til It's Gone would've flopped. Half of that song is Britney repeating "You'll never know what you got till it's gone" over some dated, headache-inducing dubstep breakdown. omg flawless pictures in the signature did you edit them by yourself?
BraveNewSeth Posted June 9, 2014 #77 Report Posted June 9, 2014 omg flawless pictures in the signature did you edit them by yourself? Thanks haha, but I didn't make them. I have no editing skills whatsoever I found them on ATRL.
CIRCUS Posted June 9, 2014 #78 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Thanks haha, but I didn't make them. I have no editing skills whatsoever I found them on ATRL. ooh, but they look so beautiful! love this photoshoot

Half of that song is Britney repeating "You'll never know what you got till it's gone" over some dated, headache-inducing dubstep breakdown. Generic! That's my point! Generic stuff does wonder for GP, so it would have done good. Remember that Australia bashed Britney during this era for lyp synching, so there really is no doubt why it didn't make much impact. And I'm not saying IO is not overrated, I'm saying people were JAMMING hard to it, but.. Not everyone would have liked it so..
Derek Shepherd Posted June 9, 2014 #81 Report Posted June 9, 2014 I like the album. It's not her most solid, but I like the songs and enjoy listening to it. I don't exactly stan for the album. IMO, ITZ and Blackout pass it by miles, but it's in my top three.
BraveNewSeth Posted June 9, 2014 #82 Report Posted June 9, 2014 ooh, but they look so beautiful! love this photoshoot omg I love the Circus photoshoot too! Some of the photos are photoshopped to death, but overall it's an amazing shoot. I can give you a link if you want.
Ariana Grande Posted June 9, 2014 #83 Report Posted June 9, 2014 By the way, before anyone attacks me for my comment above: I'M NOT DEFENDING LAZYNEY! One thing is to cover a huge ass stage, and one, completely different is to half ass your dance routine. Some nights she slayed and some other nights she wasn't feeling it at all.

I would rather Britney take risks and release songs like Work Bitch than release something generic that would be a guaranteed hit.

Ariana Grande Posted June 9, 2014 #88 Report Posted June 9, 2014 I would rather Britney take risks and release songs like Work Bitch than release something generic that would be a guaranteed hit. Where's the risk in Work Bitch? Just because it's a term of endearment for her gay fans or because she says "bitch" a million [billion] times? It's repetitive just like TIG, there's nothing new in there. She didn't introduce a new sound to mainstream music, so... ? And to make it clear: I do like Work Bitch. I jam to it constantly (while working out, of course )

She didn't introduce a new sound to mainstream music, so... ? And to make it clear: I do like Work Bitch. I jam to it constantly (while working out, of course ) Work Bitch is most definitely a risk. Not just because she repeats the word "bitch", but because of the production. It's like hard, underground EDM. She took a huge risk releasing a song like that to radio and releasing it as the first single off of an album.

Ionut Posted June 9, 2014 #91 Report Posted June 9, 2014 I want this thread to be closed if a fight: "POM vs Circus tour" starts again!!! That's all
Ariana Grande Posted June 9, 2014 #92 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Work Bitch is most definitely a risk. Not just because she repeats the word "bitch", but because of the production. It's like hard, underground EDM. She took a huge risk releasing a song like that to radio and releasing it as the first single off of an album. Ok, let me put it in a different way. Work Bitch would have been bigger IF it wasn't the first single of an allegedly "personal" album, you know what I mean? Since the title of the much anticipated first single off of the most personal album of Miss Britney Spears started being spread around, people began asking "Wasn't it supposed to be personal?". And THAT is why it wasn't as big as her previous first single. And, in my opinion, it was not a risk. Rihanna had already used EDM, it was nothing new like HIAM. HIAM made a huge impact on mainstream music til this day. But let's leave it at that; You prefer WB over TIG.

Most people were disappointed because it was EDM and not the urban influenced song we were promised.

It started the dubstep trend of course, but overall it's a generic pop single. I mean, it was originally offered to Katy Perry I'm one of those people who thinks Work Bitch is personal. It's about working hard to get the good things in life, which is what Britney's been doing since she was 16 years old. Rihanna did do EDM before Britney, but Britney's has a harder, more underground sound than anything I've ever heard in mainstream pop before.
BrianSpears Posted June 9, 2014 Author #95 Report Posted June 9, 2014 I want this thread to be closed if a fight: "POM vs Circus tour" starts again!!! That's all POM > Circus though lbr.
Ionut Posted June 9, 2014 #96 Report Posted June 9, 2014 POM > Circus though lbr. My favorite is POM too but let's not start this fight, please.
Ariana Grande Posted June 9, 2014 #97 Report Posted June 9, 2014 I really don't think anyone expected the first single to be some super personal track. Most people were disappointed because it was EDM and not the urban influenced song we were promised. I was disappointed for it not being personal. I didn't care much about the sound it had tbh. Fucking flawless set!

Little did Flop Perry know about the impact it would cause. And again, that's my point; Generic shit works wonderful for general public. I was forcing myself to also see it as a personal song, until she said it was a term of endearment for the gays. So I pictured dudes wearing bikinis and It lost it's touch for me. I still hold on to the "You want a hot body? You better your bitch" part so :britney-agreedlol:

Britney wanted to add dubstep to Hold It Against Me. She said she wanted it to sound "grimey." It was Britney and her idea that made Hold It Against Me iconic. Without the dubstep it would be another generic pop single. Work Bitch isn't just for the gays. She's aiming for girls too

Experimentalney at her best tbh Remember when the first inside info leaked about this song?
