"As for traditional retailers, Target offered customers five different One Direction album covers. As a result of that marketing tactic, Made in the A.M. out sold Purpose (81,000 to 28,000 units) in sales gathered over Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the discount chain. 1D and Bieber were neck and neck at Walmart, where the band sold 22,000 units to Bieber's 19,000."

It's not exactly the same idea, but it's similar, and it goes to show its a great way to drum up extra sales (especially over any competitors)

This was my idea:

Each album would have different album cover (that ties in with all the rest) and packaging, along with  ONE Exclusive track. Different for each edition.

Different Editions would include; "Standard Edition," "Deluxe Edition," "Target Edition," "iTunes Edition," and "Vegas Edition."

Britney would announce everything (Release Date, Different Editions of the album w/ Each Exclusive Song) when she announces the album. She would also announce that starting the next day, and once a week, she would be dropping a 1:30 minute VEVO video focused on each individual edition, talking about each exclusive song. 5 in Total. It would end with a snippet of each track. Labels "Britney Spears - "album name" - "edition name"

Standard - 12.99 - 12 tracks. 1st cover in series. SOLD EVERYWHERE, including Amazon & all physical locations.

Deluxe - 15.99 - 15 tracks (2 Bonus+1Exc). 2nd cover in series. SOLD EVERYWHERE, including Amazon & all physical locations.

Target Edition - 16.99 - 16 tracks (Deluxe+1Exc). 3rd cover in series. SOLD ONLY AT TARGET.

iTunes Edition - Standard (13) & Deluxe (15) editions. Same "Exclusive" song.  SOLD ONLY DIGITALLY ON ITUNES.

Vegas Edition - 12.99 & 15.99 - 15 tracks (Standard+Deluxe Bonuses+1Exc.). SOLD ONLY AT THE VEGAS STORE.

Each album cover would be premiered on the same day as it's corresponding VEVO video would. Britney would instagram/FB/Twitter it out.

Also, when it comes time for the 4th or 5th single off the album, Fans will vote from the 5 Exclusive Songs for the 4th/5th AND FINAL Single.

I like the idea of a different cover for every edition but I don't think it would work with Britney.
She's a solo artist & she doesn't have any power over the teenagers.

The main problem with Britney is that she didn't make anything to make the fanbase grow, in fact she lost tons of fans & the support of the GP through the years.
I have already assumed the album is not gonna be one of her most successful album  but as long as the music is good I'm ok with it.

I don't think Britney is interested on sales or money.
She already is making money with Vegas.

She's probably only releasing the album to keep POM fresh and can add new songs to the setlist not only to attract new public to the show but to make the people who already went there go back to see the new performances with the new songs.

The less we expect from next era the better or we'll end up with another meltdown...

Wow .. Just wow!!

If my English was good, I would say the completely same things ...  :)

I have no expectations at all for this new era, and I don't think having 5 different album covers has anything to do with power over teenagers? I mean, i'd buy all 5 versions myself, but i know not everyone would. it was just a promotional idea (as someone who entering this business). Lol.

I think you looked a little too deep into the situation hunny. Lol.

How is it not Britney related when, the point is too show, how my BRITNEY RELATED idea would actually help sales.

lol sis, doing multiple covers has been done before  :orangu:

What kind of stretch at making this Britney-related, to show off your "idea"..

I know you think you're some industry expert like you pretended to be on exhell  but this thread is about literally nothing  :umum:

carry on with ya messy self tho gorl  :fun:

Oh, I know that, obviously since it's mentioned in my highlighted quote.............however, I'm just saying, I found it funny that I just mentioned something similar to this, and then a couple days later, it's proven to help increase sales. I know it would work better on someone with a younger audience then Britney, but this is also not just different covers...my idea included exclusive content on each, and packaging.

I don't think i'm anything, and I definitely haven't pretended to be anything i'm not, I'm just a young man, with a passion for the music business, and a head full of ideas...Ideas that as a fan, I would love to see Britney execute, not just as a Business stand point, but as a stand point, as what it would feel like to be a fan at that moment. I don't expect people to get it. I am not going to comment on Exhell anymore, because I'm not allowed too. I can comment on Breatheheavy though.

Plus, seeing how my idea was centered around Britney. It's Britney related. LOL.

Teenagers are the ones who buy the most & try to get like every single thing their favorite artists releases because they don't have to pay for it, they have their parents to pay for their whims.

Britney's fanbase are mostly in their 20-30 so it won't work.

I truly like the idea of different covers and I probably would buy them all but that "strategy" is use it to get more sales and I don't think that would work on Britney.

IMHO, that can only work with teen idols and Britney's is not a teen idol anymore.

Kanye West has done multiple covers, with his fans being adults (my friend was 20 at the time, and she bought all 5 versions).

Many artists, that are not Teen Idols, have released different alum cover versions of their CDs.

I see your point though, it tends to be more successful on artists with a younger fan base.

ESPECIALLY if it's more then just covers, like my idea is.

Each Version would have exclusive Music, and I would want all of them.

well with having my own appartment and my own bills and stuff i'm glad that there are nice people sharing music to download for free, so i wont need to get all the versions :P
