britney would have had "genie in a bottle" as first single and christina "baby one more time"?

would christina now be as big as britney is and britney would be the "flop"? or would it be the same like it is now?

just wondering :bomt:

It would be the same as it is now, tbh. Christina is still an awful bitch no matter what songs she has. Britney has the sweet, humble, girl next door quality that made the world fall in love with her.

its weird that people hate on christina because she is a "bitch", i mean mariah is a bitch too and everyone kinda love(d) her :omg1:

Britney is a complete artist with an amazing and humble personality while Christina is just an amazing singer with an egocentric and bitchy attitude.
It wasn't about the song.
Britney got her "legend" status because she have the "full pack" while Christina only had her voice without anything else to offer to the public.

true that, but BOMT and GIAB where the first songs both released (i dont care about christina reflection song), and the songs made both famous and a good start for their careers

OMG this thread  :zoomzoom:  It would be the same, probably. Part of the inital sucess for Britney was the fact the first teenage artist at the time. If Christina had appeared before Britney (with either of those songs) maybe she would have gotten the same sucess

I think it wouldn't have mattered. What draw people's attention was Britney's image of a sweet, innocent girl, you know? Like, she was the perfect balance of innocence and sexiness (by the 90's standars of course) so yeah  :yaknow:

There's a few problems with Christina that Britney doesn't have.

1. The main thing is that she's horribly inconsistent pretty much across the board. She doesn't look the same album to album. Her albums are released so sporadically that its hard to be excited about the releases. The music is also vastly different album to album so you can't get used to her sound. The only thing she does consistently is sing well (a big positive of course).

2. She's a diva without much to back that behavior up. See unlike Mariah, Christina doesn't have a lot hits nor has she broken any records. In the public's eye she just comes off aloof, detached and mean. It would probably help her some to not be as private so that at least people can have the chance to find something relatable in her but she doesn't care so here we are.

3. Unlike Britney, there's not much memorable about Christina. Christina desperately needs something iconic to happen with her or she just seems like she will forever be remembered for Beautiful, Dirrty's music video and The Voice

So i guess what I'm trying to say is that Christina lacks artist image development and it's obvious that Britney gets it (even to this day) so until her team figures it out Christina will just remain as she has been since 2006. It wouldn't have mattered who got which song the outcome would have been the same because the reason Britney is more successful is not because BOMT it's because she's who she is.

If Christina had baby then the music video would have been ENTIRELY different.  :omg1:

Britney would have found a way to make that dreadful genie in a bottle song a solid success with an impact.

People need to understand that it's not just about getting a hit song. There are TONES of great songs out there. The hard thing is to know what to do with a hit song. Britney does, Christina doesn't...

THIS!!!

Plus Britney has a much stronger work ethic! Britney still would have been 4 albums deep while Xtina would be working on her third like the floptina we all know and don't watch on The Voice..tbh

I was going to make this point, being first can help as well sometimes. BOMT blew UP before Genie In A Bottle knew what to do with itself.
