I think the story was Ryan Murphy had rights to Britney's music from that 1st tribute and wanted to do one "his way," since the 1st had to be approved by Team Britney before going into production.  Plus she was on X-Factor at the time and was great cross promo (Britney 2.0. was the highest rated episode of that season). glee always acted like doing Britney's music was beneath them, even in that first tribute episode, and never covered her music outside of one.

 

That 2nd tribute was insulting and nowhere near funny, on the bright side the show crashed and burned.

The second "tribute" was a disgrace and so poor in taste. Not that Glee was a classy show to begin with, but it was disgusting the way they handled that episode. I remember Felicia wrote a post on facebook about how disappointed she was in the episode.

They were so shady, the episode where Britney appeared was all love towards Britney....then they did that one where it was all britney bashing basically. Which is so horrible because it's like they backstabbed her after she supported their show by being in it.    I'm glad the show went down after that.

When else did they shade her   I only saw the GM shade
