michellesheckler Posted December 26, 2015 #1 Report Posted December 26, 2015 I read somewhere that she wouldn't be able to perform it live due to copyrights or some type of contractual obligations but it'd been released as a single with a music video so I don't understand what legal issues she would face if she performed My P on tour. The choreography I believe would have been amazing and Britney would have killed it at that time.

I_need_me Posted December 26, 2015 #3 Report Posted December 26, 2015 We don't know how these kind of things work. It may not make sense to us that she could release the song but she can't perform it but that is probably what they signed. These kind of copyright contracts are very complex so unless you're in the business and really know about that stuff we can't really understand it
Mrs Jared Leto Posted December 26, 2015 #4 Report Posted December 26, 2015 i can live with her not performing this song. it isnt on my fave list, so its ok 2
ALEX -II- 11O39 Posted December 26, 2015 #5 Report Posted December 26, 2015 I think that all the songs that are covers, Britney will never perform them. Maybe it's a thing of her label.

MIKE Posted December 26, 2015 #8 Report Posted December 26, 2015 I'm pretty sure you can perform anything live. If you are recording it and distributing it ( like a dvd) then you run into copyright issues.
X-Ander Posted December 26, 2015 #9 Report Posted December 26, 2015 Once an artist gets permission to record a cover and to place it in his own musical project, he will automatically get permission also to shoot the video and perform it as many times as he want... Aren't you tired of inventing all these complicated excuses??? 3
ALEX -II- 11O39 Posted December 26, 2015 #10 Report Posted December 26, 2015 umm... Material Girl Black Cat Nasty The Beat Goes On You Got It All Satisfaction I Love Rock & Roll You Oughta Know Burnin' Up whoops Edit: well maybe the rules changed within her label? 1
Brian.TheDog Posted December 26, 2015 #11 Report Posted December 26, 2015 whoops Edit: well maybe the rules changed within her label? or she's just over that song 1
ALEX -II- 11O39 Posted December 26, 2015 #12 Report Posted December 26, 2015 or she's just over that song !! possibly
JoshLee Posted December 26, 2015 #13 Report Posted December 26, 2015 Probably or there just wasn't room for it
btmyhbrit99 Posted December 27, 2015 #14 Report Posted December 27, 2015 She may not want to and it may not have anything to do with copyrights. Bobby Brown didn't like her version of the song so maybe she feels a certain way performing it. And it could also be that she doesn't really see a place for the song in her setlists, especially because she usually tries to tell a loose story in her tours. Honestly the song isn't that great. I mean the video is fierce as fuck and she looked so bomb throughout the whole thing but the song is alright. I really only think she should perform the first verse and chorus of the song on tour, after that it wears itself out.
Jeansus Spears Posted December 27, 2015 #15 Report Posted December 27, 2015 It's probably with the copyrights and maybe it's maybe because the song kinda reminnds her of her dark days with Kfed
HeadstrongWolf Posted December 27, 2015 #16 Report Posted December 27, 2015 I don't think y'all understand how covers work. It's not Britney's choice to perform the song live. That choice is made by producers and the contracts, and how much money the record label is willing to spend. For every time the supposed cover would be performed live, the original copyright holders would have to be paid for each performance. (meaning bobby brown would have to make profit off of britney's performances.) It's up to the label. Not Britney. That's why she was able to perform Burning Up and You Oughta Know (which she might not have even had to pay for besides out of pocket, it was only a temporary addition to the setlist.) Tbh, Bobby probably wanted more money than Jive / RCA was / is willing to spend on a performance for a song that's nearly 10 years old now. 2
Ooh-Ooh Britney Posted December 28, 2015 #17 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I love My Prerogative but I can live without it being performed. Maybe part of an interlude. What is really weird is that she isn't performing a fucking #1 lead single like HIAM in a Greatest Hits show Maybe now that the show is being re-vamped..
ifuseekme Posted December 28, 2015 #18 Report Posted December 28, 2015 You all seem to be forgetting that she released ILRR for a single and performed it on the DWADT So its probably her choice
Mike. Posted December 28, 2015 #19 Report Posted December 28, 2015 umm... Material Girl Black Cat Nasty The Beat Goes On You Got It All Satisfaction I Love Rock & Roll You Oughta Know Burnin' Up I can't get no satisfaction says hey too
Brian.TheDog Posted December 28, 2015 #20 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I can't get no satisfaction says hey too it's right there on the list.... I forgot to add Open Arms
britney4ever Posted December 28, 2015 #21 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I have to agree with HeadstrongWolf on the subject!! If you don't own the song, you don't get to decide. 1
HeadstrongWolf Posted December 29, 2015 #22 Report Posted December 29, 2015 I have to agree with HeadstrongWolf on the subject!! If you don't own the song, you don't get to decide. See? This person gets me ayy lmao 1
HeadstrongWolf Posted December 29, 2015 #23 Report Posted December 29, 2015 You all seem to be forgetting that she released ILRR for a single and performed it on the DWADT So its probably her choice Not necessarily. I love rock n roll is a widely covered song. Multiple people is a covered it. The rights to the song were probably cheap as fuck and profits off Britney going to the original copyright holders were agreed upon before it was even added to the set list. I don't know. This is all Just a. Guestmiation. I assume she would have performed my prerogative if she was allowed to. 1
britney4ever Posted January 4, 2016 #24 Report Posted January 4, 2016 Yeaaah potheads unite!!! lol @@HeadstrongWolf ....why I can't quote you??! It's getting on my nerves!! 1
Britnoy Posted January 4, 2016 #25 Report Posted January 4, 2016 Didn't Bobby Brown make fun of Britney because he didn't like the cover? That's probably the reason why Britney doesn't want to perform it.
