RIAA will count audio and video streaming, along with the traditional album sales.

So basically it will be easier for Britney,B9 could even possibly go platinum if it does well in both sales and streams.

And no it will not affect Britney's past albums.

But I understood the article perfectly. By saying "it will affect her future album" I didn't mean in a negative way, though you seemed to take it that way. By "affect," I meant, "this will factor in to her future sales" - that was it.

Not sure how the algorithm works for album sales but streaming is a very big thing in this digital era especially for singles. Even though it's free to a large extent and that people don't have to buy albums, there are people who actually pay to stream music online. So I guess it makes sense have streaming counted for album sales. 

 

I don't think it's a bad thing. And Britney could benefit more from this since people are into streaming these days. She just needs to make great music and more people will stream it.
